Experts say that dogs use train tracks to travel quietly and quickly between locations. Train tracks are usually level and provide the lost dog with an easy walking path where they can avoid humans. Also, wild animals are frequently hit by trains so hungry lost dogs may be attracted to the carcasses to eat.

What a tragedy!!!! How many more are we going to lose on the railways...I have had several meetings with Network Rail and they are as baffled and concerned as we are...With the size and the vibration alone,,, what is the attraction??. I know that if drivers see things on the track they can and will sound the horns which works for cattle, horses, and deer..so WHY are so many dogs not moving off the track. itself? RAY
