Buttons came home tonight, she just appeared in the garden after another search. She is very hungry so possibly been shut in somewhere over the weekend. Owner is so happy and wants to thank you Jayne and Geoff for the advice and for sharing her. 😻

When the owner is searching I would recommend them to use the same deodorant they use on a day to day basis, as Buttons will recognize the scent. And your the one she trusts. Or take with you an Air Freshener that is used in the house, and may remind her of her comfort zone. Remember to take the cat carrier with you, if needed. Paws xd,

Indoor cats that "Escape" like this will usually feel very anxious being out of their comfort zone which is in their own home with people they trust; their owners. And they will usually hide close by. Or/and have an adventure in someones garden. A door she has access to, open wide, and stand aside, Don`t block her entrance or she may see it as a"Threat" and run off again. Pu some tuna, or chicken in her dish, and place the dish twice the width of the open door. Rattle some treats too. Place her UNWASHED blanket into a clean container, along with your scent too. Leave these about 2 metres from the open door. Take a good walk around the area, holding an object with her scent on, and rattle some Dreamies. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. If all else fails, borrow a cat trap from Cat Protection (For a small donation, think). If you do need to use a trap, place inside an object with his scent on, I woudn`t put any food in because of other cat. Paws xd.Last edited: 2019-07-15 08:39:33

Thank you GeoffA and Jayne. Buttons belongs to my neighbour and she has never been outside before. She is very friendly so hopefully someone will find her. 🐱
