So glad this beautiful girl is home, but she must have been in agony running around with a broken leg. Vets are usually really good at letting clients pay up their bill in bits if money is tight. Poor baby.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I am sooo pleased she has been found. So sorry she has a broken leg. Vets fees are now extortionate. Get a second opinion, broken bones do not necessarily need plating. You could also be seen at PDSA if cost is prohibitive. Good luck, I bet she is over the moon to be home.

Oh god ! I'm so pleased you found her, but so sorry about the leg. Poor baby must have been in so much pain. Thank goodness you were all able to catch her. Praying now for the money can be raised to mend the leg properly. Perhaps the vet will help you spread the cost in some way, I know mine would. Good luck Sandy - you deserve to be well again. You are gorgeous and so well loved xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone, just to confirm that Sandy was found this afternoon running around in Lested Farm. We picked her up and brought her straight to the vet. Thanks to Lested Farm and Les who help to get her. A big thanks to everyone who helped in the search. However, she's got a broken leg and the vet said she's going to need a plate put in to heal the bone. It's going to cost between ?2500-3000. We're helpless. She's been given antibiotics and pain killers for now and have asked to come back on Friday for x-rays and the rest if we can afford. Her leg is bandaged for the moment. She seems really happy to be home and started eating all Randy's food as soon as she came in. Then Randy started eating as well! Thank you all again. We found her because of all your help.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

cross-posted (again) from Biggsd.com Sandy has been found! Possible broken leg, otherwise okay. I suspect the owner has some large vets bills to pay for both Sandy and Randy. If interested, keep an eye on Biggsd in case an appeal is launched to help pay.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It appears that there's no place called Wirton in Kent. So, the caller must have meant Sandy ran towards Wirton Grange Cottage in Chart Sutton area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Updat: We put up posters in the Chart Sutton area last night and today as well. a little while ago we received two calls. One was from Cock Inn in Chart Sutton. They said it was one of their customers who saw the accident and called RSPCA. They had seen another dog (Sandy) run away from the scene and said they don't think she got hit by that car. So, at least she didn't get hurt. They think she might have run off towards WIRTON area. They have offered to look out for her. So kind of them. Next call was from another person who lives two doors from where the dogs lived. He said their security camera had picked up the two dogs wondering into their drive about two times around 1.30am. That's about it. We're praying for her safe return. Thanks for all your support. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good luck with your search, great that Sandy is chipped.   Stay safe until you’re found, lovely girl, and I hope Randy is okay after his accident.   Could be that Sandy got frightened by the accident and is hiding not far away - postering the immediate area could be a good idea.

Sandy's kennel mate (Randy) was found injured in Amber Lane, Chart Sutton, so the chances are that Sandy is still in that area, which is very close to where they were homed. If you are in and around the Chart Sutton area please keep your eyes and ears open, she is a very friendly bitch, who will be fine with anyone who approaches her. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sandy's mate Randy was found after he had been hit by a car in the Sittingbourne area, so Sandy may still be in that area if they had been together before the accident.
They were living by Leeds castle area of Maidstone, just in case she never got as far as Randy did!!!!! both these dog had just been rehomed  ..so any help in the maidstone sittingbourne area would be much appreciated  .. as i understand it the origanl owner is now out looking for sandy Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

So sorry to hear Sandy is missing. Please poster like mad print off 100+, poster everywhere so that everyone knows Sandy is missing put posters up in Shops, Pubs, Scrap Yards outside Travellers Camps, Parks and hand out posters to dog walkers as well. To give them better protection against the weather, use punched pockets put the posters in so that the opening is at the bottom (you can also seal the opening with waterproof, clear tape). Speak to the local postmen and visit your local sorting office and ask them to display a poster. Taxi drivers are usually a great help they are out and about and can call quickly if they see anything, also put up posters in Taxi ranks. Try to 'collar' the local milkman and ask them to keep a poster of Sandy to hand. Pubs are good places to target. Try to visit them early lunchtime or early in the evening when they tend to be less busy and ask the manager to display a poster of Sandy and speak to as many of the regulars/customers as possible. Display Sandy?s poster in your car(s) and ask family, friends, neighbours, other regular dog walkers and work colleagues to do the same. Contact ALL the Dog Wardens, Pounds and Rescues in and out of your immediate area, as if Sandy have been picked up could be passed on to any one of them please do give a very good description as dogs are coming and going daily but very glad that she is micro chipped  which should make identification easier. As she has run off please if you want help to search the area, identify where, so local helpers can help, you made need to leave a scent trail (if you need instructions then please ask) as Sandy may well be still in the area. Please do contact other owner(s) of missing dogs as you can support each other and poster a wider area. Please make sure you post regular updates so that the other Helpers in your area know where & what you have covered and shout if you need help that is what we are here for.Good luck.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
