If an elderly little house cat like Baggins can find his way home through the kindness of strangers, then your pets can too!!!

Mum and I plan to spend time searching for local lost pets in the area, whenever we can, to try and help other lost pets make their way home to their loved ones too.

Stay hopeful and good luck!!!

Ceri, Denise and Baggins:-)xx

Baggins was discovered in an open garage on the other side of town from where he lives in Llandudno Junction!!!

A lovely lady called Sandra telephoned us, to say she thought our cat might have been in her garageat some point; it appeared that her neighbour saw Baggins on social media and thought she might have seen him in their vicinity on Friday and told Sandra about him.

Sandra kindly put some food out in her garage Saturday afternoon on the off-chance it was him, in the hope of enticing Baggins and locking him in until we could collect him, but when she went back later, the food had gone and so, it appeared, had Baggins.

As soon as Sandra phoned us that evening, we raced to her house and began searching for Baggins.

We had been under the impression that as soon as he heard us he would come running from wherever he was, so when we called and called him and he didn't come, we were on the verge of going home for the night and returning early in the morning to resume our search.

However, at the last second, he called out to us. He had not been initially responding to our calls due to his extremely high stress levels and we had explored what we thought was the whole of the garage before he called out to us.

He had been hiding in the dark in the far corner under a chair, which had a long cloth over it and there was a spade and brush covering the front of the chair, so it was impossible to see him without moving the furniture and if he had not eventually called out, we probably wouldn't have found him then.

Baggins was clearly stressed out by his experiences of being outdoors fending for himself, as he had only previously been in our home and in the back garden. He had never been outside the front door, unless he was in his cat carrier box on the way tot he vets, so he would never have made it home on his own.

It took a few minutes for him to accept we were real, then a while longer for his anxiety levels to go down so we could put him in his cat box and take him home.

Baggins has not stopped purring since we found him although he has spent most of the time recovering from his ordeal by sleeping, only waking up occasionally to eat. This afternoon, however, he seems to be less exhausted and more himself. He has a full tummy and his safe and warm at home. He is very clearly really overjoyed that he is home and once again reunited with us and we are too.

Our poster campaign and his social media presence directly led to his safe return home and every single person who was kind enough to help a little vulnerable cat in need by sharing his details with others, are all responsible for this.

If you were able to share Baggins' story with others on social media, please let everyone know that he is safe at home and pass on our immense thanks!

Wherever Baggins had been and whoever he had encountered since his disappearance on Sunday 28th October, we will never know. However, we are immensely grateful to every single person who had a part (however small) in helping Baggins come home safely to his family (especially Sandra and her neighbour) and we would like to thank each and every one of them wholeheartledly.

We hope the same good luck follows all the other lost cats, dogs, birds and other animals who have been separated from their loved ones and that they too will find their way home to their families safely.

Many, many thanks - Baggins is a lucky, lucky little boy.

Baggins has been found safe and well last night, thanks to lovely people sharing his details on social media!!!

We just wanted to thank everyone at DogLost and everyone who has helped in any way whatsoever in the process of bringing Baggins home safe and sound to his loved ones!!!xx

I hope all the other animals who are separated from their families are reunited very, very soon.

I have tried several times to change his status to 'found' but it is still appearing as 'lost'. Maybe it takes time for the system to upload the new information?

House cats that go missing like this, will usually feel very anxious being out of their comfort zone which is in their own homes with people they trust; their owners. And they tend to hide close by. A door Baggins has access to, open wide, and stand aside. (Don`t block his entrance, or he may see it as a "Threat" and run off. Put some tuna or chicken in his dish, and, place it about twice the width of the door. Place his UNWASHED blanket into a clean container, along with your scent too. Leave it about 2 metres for the open door. Poster around the area, and post flyers through doors too. Ask neighbours to check outbuildings too. If all else fails, you could borrow a cat trap from Cat Protection for a small donation, I think, and place his UNWASHED blanket inside; your scent too. I would refrain from putting in any treats, because of other cats. Paws xd.Last edited: 2018-11-01 12:11:31
