May be worth taking a look at Bearded Collie Monty's page (16475) where a grey and white lurcher has been sighted in Cornwall.  May be too far down for Teazle but fingers crossed.  Would be lovely to see them both reunited. x  Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This dog seen is not Teazle.  Evidently is owned by someone but it is often seen wandering around that area.  Such a shame but we will keep looking.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can't see how to contact the owner from your website, but think we may
have seen this dog today. Perhaps you could pass the following to the
owner. The only problem was that it looked well cared for: not as if it
had been lost for months.
We saw the dog today between the Denchworth junction and Park Lane just
north of Goosey. We didn't pay much attention and the dog ignored us,
but we commented it was strange to see a dog wandering along the road on
its own so far from houses. It was only later on our cycle ride that we
saw a notice about Teazle between Gainfield and Charney Basset. The
photo did look like the dog we saw. So much so that as we would be
heading back through Denchworth on our cycle loop, we decided to detour
back toward Goosey past where we first saw him. Although an hour had
passed, we met the dog (still on its own) at more or less the same
place, but now heading in the opposite direction along the road edge. We
stopped and called "Teazle" and tried to attract him over. He made a
tentative approach to within a couple of yards, but then decided against
us and disappeared through the hedge by the roadside, We tried calling
and whistling; but he next appeared about 100yds behind us and carried
on his way. He turned into Park Lane (towards Stanford) where we lost
sight of him. I cycled back, but he was nowhere to be seen.
There is a farm and stables (Blackacres Farm) just where he disappeared,
so perhaps it was just a farm dog we saw. I wouldn't like to raise hopes
unnecessarily. On the other hand, seeing the dog on its own the first
time was strange enough for us to comment on: and the description of
Teazle could certainly have applied. It might be worth 'phoning
Blackacres Farm or the nearby cottage that's been renovated and asking
if they've had any sight of a stray?
Good luck whatever, and sorry if this just turns out to be a red
herring. Rdgs,
Tom

We had a possible match at valeroyal.gov.uk but Sarah thinks not unfortunatly so the search goes on.
Sarah did say about an unhelpful DW not informing an owner about a found dog in the area so it is possible Teazle could have been picked up and rehomed so we will keep looking.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone. Still no teazle but we still searching and hoping. Just seen a warning about a white van with 2 males and 1 female. Apparently they have been seen picking dogs up and when aprehended say that they are dog wardens and that the dog has to be reclaimed from the local pound. Needless to say when the Dog Warden is contacted there is no history. Keep your eyes peeled.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

not much help but as our dog went missing same day as yours, thankfully found, we went all through the Warren late on afternoon/evening of 29th and went round Carswell Golf club area and no-one who had been out in that area or ourselves saw any dogs. Our dog was picked up by the Vale's dog warden - try phoning Maccabee kennels it's where a lot of dogs found in our area are taken.Your efforts are working as a number of people I have seen have told me about you dog and are looking out for him - best of luck.............Ashtree had to edit your post as it contained the kennels private number-owner has contacted them.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

PPS There's a cafe-cum-caravan site on the road which runs along the bottom of the Downs, somewhere just before you get to the road leading up to Uffington. Also several little village shops in the string of villages which runs along that road B4507. All this is in case she's headed or been taken that way - in fact she's more likely if loose to be still the Stanford side of the A417, and I don't know that bit at all well. Cover all the villages in that triangle, Faringdon/Wantage/Pusey/West Henney etc: shops, pubs, notice boardsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

PS Quite a few of the Irish jockeys live in Faringdon, they drive around a lot - the manageress of the bookies should know which pub they use!! It's quite an 'Irish' town [stable yard workers] so many people might have links to travellers, I think a night or two in the pubs might be well spent, in case Teaszle has been 'picked up'Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been trying to think mainly of places which will be full of tourists and esp walkers/riders as this is a Bank Holiday weekend, the area will be busy! Don't forget to leaflet bookies shops - there's at least one in Faringdon, in fact I'll email the poster to the manageress right now. There's also a nice health food/gift shop/cafe in Faringdon, they might take a posterLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There are several racehorse training yards [also prob Point to Point yards] in the area. Start with emailing posters to trainers - find using the NTF site and putting Oxfordshire [and Wiltshire] in the search box for the county, all the trianers will come up: http://www.racehorsetrainers.org/contacts/findtrainerbyalpha.asp Try putting a pile of flyers in the church at Stanford - it gets a lot of visitors. There is the little museum nearby of the school which was run by the author of Tom Brown's Schooldays, website http://www.tombrown.btinternet.co.uk/museum/ Also poster the local sites, Uffington White Horse, the Ridgeway etc. Put posters on all village noticeboards, also try all the local pubs inc in Faringdon and Wantage, also Kingston Lisle which has 3 trainers and a livery yard, and a pub The Blowing Stone - all much used by walkers, tourists, horse people, racing people etc. There are probably a lot of local events for the Bank Holiday, see local papers etc? No local P2Ps this coming w/e see list at http://www.pointtopoint.co.uk/fixtures-2008.html but the site should give you trainers... Will do some more thinking tomorrow, it's bedtime!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Teazle is a rough coated deerhound lurcher, with feathery ears. Owner will be sending a photo through to us by the end of today (hopefully) Advised, as she is so close to the County border to contact Wilts police and Dog Wardens too incase Teazle is over the border.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
