Just a thought better a Retriever than a Shih Tzu. I think then there would be problems. LOLLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home SCALLY well done the person who found him and got the DW to pick him up, understand what you are saying about tattoo but they do fade like my dogs have done, but the rescue should have look I suppose it is because his ears are down. but I have mine chip as well so if one fails the other hopefully will be pick up. Yipeeee! Great news just about to give you a phone call but thought to check here first so glad I did. Microchip really is useful but the Tattoo should have done the job, just goes to show you have to check and double, double check with DW and Kennels as you can not take their word for anything well done you! I would suggest you write a nice letter and explain this but thank them also as they did pick him up after all.Give beautiful Scally a hug for me.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I understand the sentiments re micrchips but they can easily be removed (if you know how) hence why our dogs are tattooed instead - there is a national register for them - it was a shame that the kennels never checked for tattoos. Our dogs always have collars etc when they are out but do not wear them at home because being show dogs we don't want the fur being worn by the collar. We can only presume he escaped somehow from their paddock which is all fenced and wandered down our driveway etc I've found out that one of the reasons we had problems locating him is the dog warden who picked him up yesterday afternoon logged him as a retriever - a very big one! I must say a big thank you to the member of public who stopped on the road when he saw him down there and called the dog warden and waited until he arrived to collect him. His genuine concern for a loose dog on a main road must be commended - I hope he will allow the council to tell me his details so I can tahnk him properly.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great news he is found. NOW what about a tag and microchip for him? The feelings of terror when you lost him surely do not want to be re-lived, so ID for Scally is the best thing for him and you. PLEASE - Best wishes. xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yippee - Scally is found - the blue van that he was seen being loaded into at the end of our drive was the dog warden! Unfortunately their records only got updated this morning so although we had spoken to them yesterday it had not filtered through. Thanks to evryone for their concern and help. Hi just a little correction. He went missing on 29th April. Was last seen at 3.20pm it was a silver car and a blue van seen by him with 4 men. This was halfway between Carswell Golf Club and the turning to Bampton on the A420. The vehicles were stopped with hazard flashers going - we don't know if he had been hit and they had stopped but calls to vets in the area around have not traced him. The A420 is a very busy road and people travelling onlong may well remember somethingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
