Hi everyone, sorry its taken so long to come on site. I had probs with my internet and then had trouble logging on. Yes! I still can't believe it but Poppy really is home!!!!! She's sitting on my lap as I'm typing.  The dye is gradually coming out and each day she's getting more like the normal Poppy.  She's been very quiet and sleeping a lot.  But she also has her moments running around having fun with my other 2 dogs.  She has been checked over at the vets and is physically fine. She just needs lots of love and cuddles to bring her back to her normal self.  Considering that I don't what poor little Poppy has been through in the last 9 weeks, i don't think she's doing too bad at all. I'd really like to thank you all so much for all of your help in looking for Poppy. Whether it was putting up posters, keeping an eye out for her or just giving me your support on the site, you've all been brilliant! I can't imagine going through this without the help from dog lost.   To everyone that is still waiting for their dog to come home, please don't give up hope, keep postering it works! xx    p.s Poppy is being chipped next week, the vet didn't want to do it until she has settled down a bit.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

POPPY IS HOME!!!! Just had an overjoyed Tania on the phone! She will be along later to post. A week or so ago, Tania had an anonymous tip off that Poppy was at an address in Epping (after having been 'found' in Harlow)....police searched the house but no Poppy. They were known to have links with the Harlow area so Tania & co postered the local area heavily again and then came the call they'd been waiting for for the past 9 weeks and Poppy was handed over for the reward money. Poppy is fine in herself although she had been dyed brown, just a bit bewildered which is totally understandable but so pleased to be back home where she belongs. Thanks everyone who helped in the search for Poppy.....a team effort got a fab result yet again. Wooo hoooo, so happy!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tania, have sent you a link to another site which has a JRT bitch listed as having been found in Oxleas Woods, SE London - no description from finder of dog but its worth you checking. (Text just received from Tania.....she is going to follow this up).Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poppy well circulated in Harlow area - lots of people I speak to already know she is missing. So doing a good job Tania just keep on spreading the word and that phone call will come. I know its hard but you get nothing for weeks and then that one phone call that gives you another area to go for. Both girls area there somewhere we just have to find them !! x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know it is difficult Tania but as Caroline has said, you've got great support and help on here so don't stay away! Poppy is out there and we will all do our very best to help you find her. Keep going with the postering, keep spreading the word.....we need to have the whole of Harlow on alert!! Try contacting taxi firms, fast food shops - see if they'll put posters up and pass flyers on for you. They're out and about at all different times so can be on the look out. Certainly make sure all pubs are covered too as mentioned before. Supermarkets, newsagents, schools, local businesses etc.....the more eyes looking the better. Come on Poppy, show yourself and give us a clue where you are hiding! xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have just come back from holiday and checked site. Sorry you have not got your little girl back home with you yet will keep looking. Hope that sighting of the terrier with the man turns out to be Poppy. My neighbour who has family and friends on Fern Hill Site has seen your posters and told me today that that neither Poppy and Chelsea have not been on or through site to her knowledge. She has dogs herself and is genuinely upset about your loss and has asked another traveller she knows to keep a look out. I will ask her if she knows anything about a possible site at Cheshunt which was mentioned on Chelsea's page.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No Tania, you're not being too hopeful.....you've got to have hope, look around all the time and continue spreading the word, postering and keeping Poppy's profile up. The more people that know she's missing the better! We are all willing Poppy home and I know you are of course desperate to have her back. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I can't believe its been so quiet and that I've not really had any positive leads. Surely someone somewhere must know where she is. I still think she is somewhere local and I'm looking all the time. Or am I being too hopefull? I can't believe a dog can go missing in the middle of a town and not be seen by anyone!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the update Tania, the possible sighting sounds promising especially if the man said he hadn't had the dog long. Hopefully the man will make another appearance with the dog soon and we'll know for sure. Certainly sounds like the people down the market have been very helpful - thank you to them - so hopefully with them on the lookout, and especially the tea man knowing exactly which person you are talking about, you'll be able to find out for sure soon. Fingers tightly crossed! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Lisa for sending out those emails, you and all the other helpers are doing a great job and I can't thank you enough! It seems we all thought or hoped the Jack Russells found in Matching were Poppy. I keep double checking the picture of the second one as it is very similar. I did have a call today from a lady who saw the paper. She said that a man that tends to hang around at the town centre in market square was seen with a dog fitting poppys description. She said that he was holding the dog and didn't want to put it down. She noticed it was shaking and talked to the man. He said he had had it a few days and didn't know what to call it. She has also seen him at Staple Tye with the dog. I've been to the market today, the market inspector is handing out posters to the stall holders for me and the man on the tea van with chairs outside was really helpful. He has taken some flyers and said he knew of the man that I was talking about and would check what dog he had when he sees him next and will call if he thinks it might be her. Sorry if that sounds a lot of waffle but its hard to explain the info i was given. The man is said to be a scruffy quite large man in his 50's that wears shorts and sandals a lot of the time.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just spoken to the owner after seeing poppy in the local star. I cant believe it is just over the year that our milly was lost and found due to the help from people on this site. I still have my large database of all dog wardens, kennels, vets, pet shops and more for all over essex and have emailed her poster out to all. Hi sorry if you have already ruled this out but if I'm not mistaken there appears to be two Jack Russell's found in Matching Tye listed under found on this site as 4729 and 4725 have both been checked out? 4725 looks very similar. Thanks again for all of you helping to find Poppy and Chelsea. The dog that was found in Matching was not poppy, I've just looked on the dogs found and it does look very similar. Although I wish it was Poppy I'm glad that at last I've seen the dog and can rule out that its not her. I'm still putting up posters and looking everywhere. I really think that she has been taken in locally and not been reported as found. Her poster is going in the Star again tommorrow in a better position nearer the front, heres hoping that brings the call I'm desperately waiting for!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've had another couple of calls from people that have seen my poster, to tell me they have tried to catch this same jack russel in the Matching Tye area. They have both tried to catch the dog but it keeps running away. Its been described to be quite like Poppy but no one can give a definate description as it is very quick. Two people have said they think it was a long legged type and maybe wiry coat but I've had one person think it was definately smooth coat and short legs. I keep looking round the area as I'd love to see it myself to rule out whether or not its Poppy. I've spoken to the lady that found the first dog and she has put it as found on this site. I've been looking for Chelsea too on my walks round the area. x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

One of my customers know lady who found JR that has been identified as not being poppy. They couldnt get near the other one and got impression that they felt it was running with the one they caught. So think this is not the one that is known to get out. I live very near where caught one so will keep extra look out. As I know re Chelsea you have to follow EVERY lead - you never know. Fingers crossed there are sightings of both very soon. x xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The High Laver wandering terrier is an elderly male that doesn't like other dogs (certainly would not hang out with a pup!), if we are thinking of the same one, Sheba. He doesn't get out too much nowdays (The one I'm thinking of is called Milo). I live near the Barleycorn, I will keep my eyes open for the lost dogsLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just read about the possible sighting near John Barleycorn and thought I'd mention that there is male JR that wanders around the lanes who lives in High Laver area. I asked about him once as I was worried about him getting run over but it seems he goes out from time to time on his own! This could be the same dog. He's also tan and white! Sorry but maybe wrong! xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been away and only just got to computer. How stange that Poppy could be in the same area as Chelsea was seen. It is more than possible as Poppy went from Nicholls field and Chelsea seen Church Langely woods and both can link to Harlow Common and thus towards the John Barleycorn. What are around that way was the JR still on run seen ?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No luck I'm afraid. We walked all round the area and throught meeting other dog walkers we managed to find out the dog had been caught and was being looked after at a local farm. Went to the farm and it wasn't her. The dog thats been found is a wiry haired jack russel which is white with a tan face and a long tail, she is said to be about 6-8 months old. She has been seen with another jack of similar description but they only managed to catch the one. There are lots of people looking out for the other dog. Although it was not poppy i wanted to let everyone know in case it matches any other dogs that are missing. If you need any more info let me know and i'll gladly help. Here's hoping its Poppy and Chelseas turn to be found next!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Great news Tania, that really does sound a positive sighting. As I said to you, start plotting these sightings on a map so we can establish the route she is taking. And also make sure you continue to poster further afield as we need the sightings to keep coming in. This is like deju vu from Chelsea, she was seen near that pub too! Obviously speak to the people in the pub and see if they will leave some flyers of Poppy on the bar (visit at a quiet time so staff aren't rushed off their feet when you are trying to speak to them). She may be staying around that area after the pubs bin bags/smell of food etc. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi everyone Just had a phone call that sounds quite positive. A lady was driving quite near the John Barlecorn about wed or thurs and spotted a jack that fits poppys description. She said she stopped the car and tried to call the dog. It was very timid and ran off straight away. She tried for ages to catch it but it kept running away from her and stopping at a safe distance to look back at the lady. She described it as very slim with a white body and definately had tan ears. The description is very like her and the way the dog acted makes me think it could be her. Now I'm just worried that if it was her, how much further she would travel. We're going to the area first thing in morning and will post in the villages around. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I handed in those two new colour posters to pets@home today and have printed off some new colour posters to replace black and white ones of Chelsea. Will repost Latton Common and Latton Wood in the morning for both dogs as promised. Walked all around Pennymead tower this afternoon calling but sadly couldn't see Poppy. My partner, a black cab driver in Harlow is putting up flyers of both dogs in the back of his cab this evening and has promised to keep a look out for both dogs while driving around Harlow and the wider Essex area. He is also alerting the other drivers. If they are running lose in Harlow I am sure between us will spot them Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks everyone... Your all being so helpful! I needed a boost after last night and now i feel more positive again. Thanks for putting up the posters and that would be great if the old ones of chelsea could be replaced with new colour ones. If Poppy is roaming still she could be quite timid when approached. She is very friendly but is not the sort to run up to everyone. So if she runs away please follow her..... you never know she may have made a den with Chelsea!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What a truly awful experience for you and your girls. God how can people be so mean? I'm still keeping a look out for both dogs on my walks will take colour posters into pets@home today and place two in Latton Wood as I found out it has a perspex notice board there this morning. Will begin walking around Penny Mead Tower area with my terrier as maybe poppy might come to her. Do you want me to replace black and white posters of Chelsea with colour ones on the dog pooh bins over Latton common as they are getting a bit faded? I could do one for each dog? I have also started telling every dog walker I meet about them both. Hope you have them both safe with you at home soon. There are still some nice people out there honestly - I was distraught when I recently lost my eleven month old Border Terier in Epping Forest, but she was returned to me by a very kind man who found her wandering about Sarah XXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tania, unfortunately there are a minority of sick/juvenile people out there who obviously have nothing better to do with their time than make these false calls. However, the more positive thing you can read into it is that people have seen Poppy's poster so are aware. And as you say, there are lots of people who are genuine and decent and who will offer you much help and support. I will email you some instructions re. scenting incase they will help if you get more sightings and can scent from Pennymead Tower area. Hopefully now Poppy has been in the local paper, she will get spotted more frequently and you will get some more calls and be able to establish the area she is in. Keeping fingers tightly crossed for you. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there i cant beleive another missing dog in harlow. I have got my eyes peeled for this little girl aswell as chelsea ( caroline cant beleive still not got her ) Anyway i was jsut trawling through dogs found and they found a jack russell bitch that fits the description. I know the dates dont match but i beleive mutts in distress dont always put the correct date found, so i think its worth a call as its only a few days out. Good Luck, i will be heading for nicholls field areas tonight aswell as potter street and local commons. joeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Caroline for your message and advising owners to register with doglost. Photo has now been sent in via phone so should be on site shortly. The photo is of Poppy when she was a bit younger. Poppy is quite a small JRT. She is mainly white, she has a tan head with a white stripe down the centre that isn't straight but goes wonky between the eyes. She also has 2 very symmetrical patches on her bottom that taper down to points on her back legs. She is smooth haired and has a docked tail. She was wearing a red collar (no tag). She went missing between 8pm and 10pm last night - she goes in and out through the cat flap but doesn't usually venture very far down the garden. After owners realised Poppy was missing they discovered a hole that she could have escaped through, although still unlike her to wander owner has said. Owner already contacted local dog wardens, vets and kennels and is going to get going on postering the area. I know there are some great helpers out there who have been helping in the search for Chelsea so please help find Poppy too! Owner is going to register on site so she can post updates. Will also request some flyers for Poppy so they can be handed out to dog walkers, put through nearby houses etc. Come on Poppy, come home and bring Chelsea with you while you're at it!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
