Buster being found is such a good example of poster power working ! more or less as soon as they put posters up the sightings began to come in and they were always in the same area. I advised that he was probably hiding up nearby but all the time he was being given titbits by the workmen and apparently going in their hut !! what a tinker lol I am just grateful the workmen did feed him as it encouraged him to stay within the area and not wander further afield and it also kept him out of relative danger. I'm just so glad this boy is home ! When his owner Tracy called this morning with the news that he was back he was being VERY vocal in the background and sounding very pleased to be back himself lol ! Welcome home Mr Floppy ears lol !!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home BUSTER, hope you are non the worse for your stint as a bricky's mate!! Jumping into the busy road to stop the traffic not recommended tracyjm, but I'm sure we'd all have done it - well done xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Fantastic news. I spoke to H/o from Academy building site & he said his dad is game keeper & has 6 dogs so very dog friendly. Asked him if he saw big fluffy GSD with floppy ear to feed it & ring me pdq. He gave me site cabin number & then got txt from Pam to say they'd got him!! So pleased to see him home & even happeir that you are staying on as helpers. We've been a bit thin on the ground but so many people have joined to keep track of Buster, Freddie & Raoul it's more like happy familes every day. Welcome Home Buster & well done to mum & dad for ensuring you were tagged & chipped. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi,everyone thanks for all your help and ideas ,just thank god we didn't give up.heres the story ,we got a phone call last night at 11pm from carers at AUTUMN HOUSE wosbro' dale so we went out in the dark but by the time we got there he had gone ,so this morning we out again to the same area we walked all around shouting him but to no avail met a few nice people and gave them flyers anyway we were cold and wet so were on our way back home to change ,i wound my window down because of the rain so i could see going back up the lane down a hill is a building site i was looking down when at the same time he heard the sound of the van and popped his head over the wall i screamed at my husband he slammed brakes on i jumped out calling to him in a sillyvoice like i always talk to him ,he was a bit warey at first but when he did realise it was me he came but an 8ft was between us i had to run all the way round as i did he went the other way through a garden and ran to the van eventually i caught up to him on the road a car was coming towards him so i jumped in front of it to stop it from hitting him then called to him agai n he came very slowly then when he came to me he was so excited i had toput all my clothes in wash but don't care hes home .he had been on the building site all week but the men had not even thought about checking his collar they just kept feeding him left overs .so for everyone who has lost a dog please do not give up there is hope and poster and leaflet like mad IT DOES WORK .THANKULast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tracy it would be great if you do have some spare time over the weekend if you can help these owners poster or give advice . Especially as I know you have a good knowledge of this area. I am going to do some posters tomorrow after work but the more we can get up the better ! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

There is building site at side of Academy- will speak to them tomorrow & ask them to keep eyes open. Put poster in Pets at Home in Barnsley if you can, loads of people go in there that live locally & they will help. Dog Warden is 01226 772505 it used to be Karen in the office unless Barry or John the wardens are back. Dearne FM 01226 204040- they are based locally as well. If you do see him PLEASE resist the urge to call him or chase him. Dont look directly at him as this is challenging, no eye contact & talk garbage if necessary. Pam can help you as she was personally helping Rambo's owner (another GSD) who took 4 weeks before deciding to come home. If more help is needed over the weekend I will be able to liase with Pam & assist.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Tracy so pleased you have had another sighting today ! Just keep up with the postering as it is already getting you those valuable sightings ! Try and map all the sightings and see if they form a pattern. We are going to try and put some posters up tomorrow afternoon. If you get anymore sightings tomorrow up till midday please text me or leave a mesage on my mobile so we know if we need to poster in a different area. Come on Buster let yourself be found xx PamLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

tracyjm it would be best if the lady who see him did not try and catch him he may run but to try an lure with food and if he is being sighted in the same place you should try and get a feeding area for him to go to and also get something with your smell on it or his and place it wear you put his food, and if you do spot him do not try and run to him just sit down and talk to him softly. If at all possible do this first thing in the morning and just before it gets dark. And if there is someone local who would be able to keep an eye out for you. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

hi,busters mum here .thanks for your advice ,buster was on his own when he was seen ben sighted about 4 times now around the same area been out all day looking even took my other dogs to put there scent around maybe he will pick it up and follow it home, going out later to poster and hand leaflets out ,just keep missing him, thanks everyonexxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If Buster has been sighted then my advice for the owners is to find out who sighted him, contact them and find out the exact place where he was seen. Then, the owners (or any helpers who live nearby) can go to that place and maybe knock on a few doors near the place and ask them if they have seen him or taken him in OR search every around the place, gardens, alley-ways etc. to see if he's there (he can't have gotten far if he was only seen this morning!). My guess is that he's probably hungry and eating whatever he can find, so he may be around dustbins etc. Good luck, keep postering and searching and he'll be home very soon!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Busters owners have been out to both Mount Pleasant, Hampole and Cliffe kennels today to check Buster was'nt there. The need to poster is so important as we will then hopefully get more sightings of him. Come home soon Buster xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Pam we both know how vast this area is & the reputation from certains areas around Kendray. If heading Worsborough way there's the big dam & Wosborough Mill, also Wigfield Farm, with the school holidays all are fairly busy especially the Mill & farm as I think they have new baby animals. Dearne FM 01226 204040 are really good for announcements, also may just have time to get ad in Barnsley Chronicle. Barnsley Police are hit & miss as yo know & dogs from here will go upto Cliffe.
