I work for Haringey and yesterday one of our carpenters found a puppy in Tottenaham, took it to Tottenaham Police station where he was asked did he want to keep it!!! He said no, it was some ones pet and the officer had to take it in. Frightening. Welcome home Misty, well done to the homeless man. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home misty XXX Well done to the homeless fella, hope one day the kindness is returned to you. Agree with what everyone else says about the policeman.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Totally agree with comments already made, police officer is TOTALLY in the wrong for just handing over a dog to a complete stranger & what a gem of a man the homeless person is. If only there were more like him, we often look down on homeless people- they all have their stories but this guy derserves a huge pat on the back. Without him Misty may not have been returned. Misty as already stated should be wearing a tag anyway- it's the law. I hope she gets one pdq & this good samaritan is thanked at the very least.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Agree with what has already been said, make a formal complaint. Blessings to the homeless man who had more about him than a serving police officer.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A formal complaint should be made to a Police Officer of at least Superintendent level. This will at least raise the issue, and you can ask for your Police Force to have guidleines on found and lost dogs and what to do about them, particularly with the impending change in responsibilities. Unless we make sure our local Police know the rules, and do something it could lead to more incidents like this. We have just had a huge new Police Station built and when I saw the Plans I asked where the kennel for stray dogs was. Not needed I was told, not a requirement. I argued the point about weekends, the distance to the kennels they use [in another County etc]. But when I went to the opening of this grand new station, out in the yard was a very smart dog kennel and run. So someone had listened to me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Misty.x What a wonderful, genuine human being the homeless man is. He truly went beyond the call of duty. I wish him all the good luck and blessings in world for taking the time and care to make sure Misty was safe. As for the policeman, well I won't waste my fingers typing what we already know but to you sir, you will receive the luck you deserve! Agree with RnS about the people on the streets and the way they look after their animals. It's because they have a heart! I'm sure this all would make a charming story for the local press! Stay safe beautiful Misty.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Misty. If anyone was under the illusion that the police would help with a lost dog you now have the proof they they will NOT. Well done to the homeless soul. Hope he was rewarded for his effort.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home MISTY no thanks to the police man, wounder what he would have done if he had found a young child? I hope the owners would have given the homeless man some sort of a reward for putting himself out to help, and I do hope that Misty will have a tag now to go with her chip. WOW!! when you think of how hard things must be for this man right now to go out of his way to help reunite Misty is just amazing, well done, and I agree, I hope his luck changes for the better as way of a big THANK YOU.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

What luck - welcome home Misty. I just cannot thank the lovely, homeless guy enough - how can we repay such a kind deed? I wish this man all the luck in the world and hope that his kindness wil be repaid a hundred-fold. Although great to hear that Misty is chipped, an ID tag on her collar would have meant that she would have been reunited much sooner!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Welcome home Misty!! A big well done to the kind homeless man, because without his eyes and actions Misty would probably not be home right now!! Be proud of yourself, you have made this happy reunion possible!! A lot of homeless people have dogs and they look after them better than themselves. I have had the pleasure to meet many in my years of working at my local homeless shelter. Big kisses to Misty and the man that helped her home from me and my Rottie (used in the pic above) and my staffy xxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

That is appalling behaviour from the police. No wonder there are so many lost dogs looking for their owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Misty is home - she was stopped and caught by a policeman near to her home, a man walking past told the copper he would take her as it would save the copper the effort of having to book her in and take her to battersea etc. Yep, the officer handed her over. Luckily, this whole sorry incident was witnessed by a homeless man who saw a poster and phoned the owner. owner tracked down officer invovled who admitted what had happened. homeless man had a vague idea of where the man now in possession of misty lived so he knocked on all doors until he found him and reunited Misty. welcome home misty and shame on those in authority who allow our pets to be put in such a situation. If you are reading this, the animal you come across is more than likely to be someone's pet and the least you could do is take them to safety and do the bare minimum - like scan for a chip, which misty has. not hand them to the next person who walks past. anyways, welcome home mistyxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I dont want to raise hopes at this stage, I believe I may have seen Misty on Pepper Street yesterday while walking my dog. My gut feeling was that the dog did not belong to the couple....I will post the posters up on that street for u in the hope that these people are genuine. I will also call out her name if I am lucky enough to see her again..... Take heart and know that we all know what it is like for u, and please know that we all hoping that Misty come home soon. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
