I have just spoken to Karen who is the owners close friend and she has confirmed that Winston was found this afternoon washed up from the river.

Cara is understandably devastated but has sent a message to all members and volunteers who helped try to bring this boy home safely:

Winston has been found and sadly he has passed away. We are absolutely devastated that we have lost our little man and our hearts are broken. Thank you to everyone that has helped both online and in person, your generosity and kindness of spirit in helping us bring him home will never be forgotten by us, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I would ask that you all please respect Cara and Sam's privacy at this sad time.

Obviously any posters that volunteers have can you kindly destroy and if anyone comes across a poster on their travels can we kindly ask that you remove these to save further upset to the family.

All admin are also devastated with this news, sleep tight Winston, you were much loved and will be sadly missed - fly high with the angels handsome boy

They are appealing on Winston's Facebook page for anyone with video/cctv/photographs taken in the area of Richmond he went missing on the night he went missing to review them in case there are further sightings in them.

Can CJ help? Says on his page they are having trouble getting the met police to release the cctv they have.....seem to remember it took 6 weeks for them to release the cctv when Jessie the Yorkshire terrier was stolen from a 10 year old child....

From the Pet Detectives Facebook page: Hi Everyone, the latest update on Winston is after an afternoon's investigating yesterday we still have not located any witnesses that saw him after 9pm. Unfortunately, several CCTV systems overlooking the river front are not working and it has been hard work getting other system owners to view footage on our behalf. Frustratingly, a key camera which would have shown us whether Winston was taken or whether he walked under Richmond Bridge was stolen during a break-in on Sunday evening. On a positive note both ITV and the Evening Standard covered the case last night and the local residents have been extremely helpful but we still need to find a witness who saw Winston later than 9pm so please keep sharing this post. He was spotted on CCTV shortly after going missing, near the Jackson and Rye pub, no sightings since...police have him as stolen so owner should email his CRN to doglost so his lost status can be updated to stolen.

Winston is still lost/stolen. We searched the length and breadth of Richmond riverbank and town centre tonight (Monday 9th April 2018) but still no sign of him. Please keep liking and sharing and help us bring him home. Make him too hot to handle so he is handed in. Thank you everyone.
