Thank you for flagging this dog up. Sadly it is not Rio. The dog is in Spain and in fact Rio was fostered by Clair before he came to us. I think she would have recognised him. But I will double check. Thank you again. Xxx

There has been a report of a possible sighting of dog very like Rio, in a white BERLINGO van, reg no NIL 2266 or 6622, travelling on the A146 towards Norwich approx 1015hrs. In crate, standing up, possibly a bit stressed. If you know this vehicle or who owns it and therefore the dog, could you please let DogLost know or Rio's owners x
Safka
Carolann Heaps is hoping to do some looking for Rio and giving out cards, posters etc. in Hopton. I would be very grateful if anyone could help her. I think she is looking at weekend and afternoons. Perhaps you could let Carolann know if you can help in any way. Thank you so much. Xxxx

Thank you all for the recent possible sighting and help in postering the area. No further sightings but so wish we could track that dog to check if it was Rio.

Reported a possible sighting today in hopton, while working at a property on coast Rd about 10.00 am, as I came of the property a dog was coming over to the driveway with no lead and was being followed by a gentleman hastily trying to catch him, he had no lead in his hand and dog had no collar, the dog entered the garden and the chap shouted at me to grab him,, he went round the back of the house and the dog got past him and started running into the Rd, he can back round the front and something just didn’t look right, I thought that he doesnt even look like he owns the dog and it certainly didn’t look like it wanted to be with him, the dog ran off round the corner on manor Rd and I didn’t see them again as I went back in the house, I was then looking on Facebook around midday and day the yarmouth mercury post about Rio and as soon as I saw the picture I knew something wasn’t right and was convinced that it was him, I’ve reported it to the relevant people and just hope that it might lead to something, please keep an eye out in hopton area.Last edited: 2018-08-13 22:30:41 by Riise74

From information learned today, the sighting of Rio on the Sunday he went missing was not Rio. The timing does not match. Therefore with no sightings since we must assume Rio was picked up and stolen. Any advice you can give me in light of this would be very welcome.

Rio has his birthday this week. Jan has kindly designed a new poster. We would love you all to share it for Rio. We know lots of you have already. We also know that many people, countrywide are looking at pointers, checking if it is Rio. As there have been no sightings we don’t know if he is still out there hiding, or someone has picked him up or the worst has happened. We just don’t know. We can only keep hoping that one day soon, we will have some news of Rio Bless you all for your hopeful and caring messages. Xxxx

The white Volvo and the dog inside has been identified and is NOT Rio, at least this dog can now be ruled out....the search continues.....

From LYn Rio's owner....

The VOLVO number is. DK 08 LVB

Thank you all for your continued support in sharing and posting for us. Every day is hard, and we are no wiser as to where Rio is. Still no news about the white Volvo and whether it was Rio or not.
Please share this post as it shows his head markings, which are perhaps his most distinguishing feature. He also has an orange marking near the base of his tail. Please look carefully if you see a pointer like Rio. To non pointer people, they all look very similar so check the head markings We are very grateful to everybody who takes the time to think of Rio and us every day. I receive lots of messages saying just that. These messages of support keep us going. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Xxxx

There was a possible sighting of Rio on Sunday 6th May at Sea Palling. The lady who reported it was very convinced. Rio was in a white Volvo V50 Estate with a couple and child
Does anyone recognise this description!

From Rio's mum....
We are not the only ones missing Rio. Our daily lives seem to still be concerned with what may have happened to Rio
We are beginning to lose hope of ever finding him. I know miracles do happen and dogs turn up ages afterwards, but despite all our prayers, all your sharings and wonderful thoughts, we cannot help but begin to lose heart.
Thank you for sticking by Rio. Many lovely people are still looking for him as they go about their daily lives. We cannot begin to thank you enough. Xxxxx

If anyone local can help spread the word about Rio at the Martham Scarecrow Festival on Sunday & Monday it would be greatly appreciated.

Despite an extensive search yesterday on the private estate behind the dunes, there is still no sign of Rio.
It is hard to believe in over four weeks no one has seen him at all. So we don’t know if he is still hiding in the locality. Or whether he has moved on to another area. Or has someone picked him up/ stolen him? In the latter case he could be anywhere
We would like to thank you all, those lovely people locally who have searched, put up posters and spread the word about Rio. And to everyone who has shared his poster, photos and updates far and wide
I think the only thing we can do now is to hope and pray. I know lots of you are doing that too and we thank you for that. There are times when we feel like we are in a very bad nightmare which never seems to end and your comments and thoughts help to lift us and keep us positive. We feel we can’t give up on Rio
Please still keep your eyes open for Rio. He has very distinctive markings on his head, he was thin when we last saw him, so he will be thinner now. We will still post photos of Rio and all we can do is to ask you to keep sharing just in case he is in another part of the country Give your dogs a hug tonight for tomorrow isn’t promised. Xxxx

Poster in cars might help widen the search. Have you left posters at local schools or contacted taxi firms. Posters in post boxes might help get the word around at the sorting office.

Posters need to go up further a field, is there anybody that can help?
If you can please print off a few posters and put up in the surrounding villages near Winterton x
DogLostHelen - Regional Co-ordinator East Anglia.
Thank you to everyone that came on the search for Rio today, I and the owners really appreciate it.
Sadly no sightings today of Rio, however we covered a lot of ground handing out flyers on the way.
We started from Horsey Gap and walked the dunes towards Winterton and then a few of us drove to Winterton and walked the woods where he was seen when he first went missing.
I postered a few of the villages on the way home.
Although no sightings we have spread the word further a field and hope that we will get some news of a sighting so we can act on it.
Thank you once again to everybody x

For the safe return of Rio, or information leading to his return
Please help by checking your gardens, sheds, outbuildings etc. Places where he may be hiding.
Please ask neighbours who may not be on social media pages. Thank you Xxxx

Thank you to everybody who gave up their time to help search for Rio today, we decided to concentrate on the woods that he was seen to run towards when he went missing and this is close to where he was seen on the cricket pitch, the area is vast and we tried to cover as much as we could, sadly no sightings of Rio in this area. Winterton beach is so busy every day so I think he would have been seen if he was still in this area.
Most people we spoke to knew that he was missing.
I gave everybody on the search some laminated posters and flyers to put up further away as I feel we need posters up further a field now.
Thank you once again everybody x
Safka
Thank you to all who came today to look for Rio. And thank you to the many dog lovers whom we met who have been and will continue to look. But a very big thank you to Helen for organising the search and for all the million and one other things she does for lost dogs. Helen has been truly amazing with help and advice. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Just returned from holiday in Winterton. Walked on the dunes this morning and last night. Ran along low road yesterday up to the church scanning the fields but no sign. When walking over fields at the weekend, game keepers son(?) said they had deer stalkers there this week. Presume they are from Burnley Hall so may be worth alerting them. Come home Rio.
Mark North
Hi Safka - Not sure if it will help but here are some local farm addresses you could write to..
BURNLEY HALL, EAST SOMERTON, SOMERTON, NR29 4DZ
MANOR FARM, MANOR FARM ROAD, EAST SOMERTON, SOMERTON, NR29 4DY
FORDS FARM, CRINKLE HILL, HORSEY, HORSEY, NR29 4EP
MADELEINES FARM HOUSE, MANOR FARM ROAD, EAST SOMERTON, SOMERTON, NR29 4DY
LOW FARM, SOMERTON ROAD, WINTERTON-ON-SEA, WINTERTON-ON-SEA, NR29 4AW
KNIGHTS FARM, HORSEY ROAD, WEST SOMERTON, SOMERTON, NR29 4DW
WHITE HOUSE FARM, THE STREET, WEST SOMERTON, SOMERTON, NR29 4EA
HOLMES FARM, HORSEY ROAD, WEST SOMERTON, SOMERTON, NR29 4DW

Safka
Thank you Mark North for taking the trouble to do that. We have posted on cars and letter boxes around Manor Farm road. We have no knowledge of local farmers. If any one could help alerting them or giving me names etc to contact I would be very grateful. Xxx
Mark North
I took a walk from Winterton today along Low Road and Manor Farm Road to East Somerton, then up the Holmes Road across the marshes and back down to Winterton across the dunes. Unfortunately, I had no sighting of Rio despite spending much of my time scanning the fields. I did speak to a farmer at the farm buildings at Winterton Holmes and he was totally unaware that there was a missing dog. So, I'm wondering whether all the local farms have been informed. Isn't it likely that Rio may use a farm outbuilding for shelter? So sorry that I was unable to find her. Hope she's found soon.

Sadly no luck with the drone search :( I have suggested owners contact BBC Radio Norfolk and see if Matthew Gudgin will put out an announcement this afternoon.
Safka
There is a gentleman with a drone coming this morning at 10.30. If anyone could be there to help it would be most appreciated. LYn.

Would it be worth getting someone with a drone with a camera on to look .
Safka
No sightings of Rio today. We have distributed posters and flyers in the immediate area and talked to lots of dog walkers. No sign of him at all. We will be going down tonight with a portable bar b q Thank you for all your help. Xxx
Safka
Thank you for the last comment. Could someone local please give me an idea where this is and or a telephone contact for the owners. Thank you.
Hughes
We probably saw this dog on Sunday, att the far end of private fields/farmland to the right side of low road (with the Low Farm Barns/Norfolk By The Sea properties to your left side). Another local had spotted it and said it was running up and down along the same field edge.
We later saw a lady with a white dog who was running about so we assumed it was
hers, and as it was on the private land we could not easily get to it to try to catch it.
I have messaged on Facebook to see if any other locals have seen it, which includes some friends who work on the estate land. I hope that helps, really hope he/she is found.
