Poppy's owner
Well - how fantastic to have a dog of mine in the blue!! This morning I phoned my closest friends and fell apart - I didn't think I would ever see Badger again. I printed 100 posters and leaftletts and had got a bottle to go scent marking again, and I phoned the police to report him stolen, not missing. They told me he had been handed in and to wait by the phone, and then called to say it wasn't him. Then Iphoned back to try and report him as stolen and they said they would not treat it as a theft without evidence. This is when I lost it totally. But half an hour later, I got a call from someone who said they thought they had bought him the night before. A long story (pm me if you are really interested) but I found Badger waiting for me in Croyden. I paid to get him back, and the little girls who he had been bought for all cried on cue and asked to visit sometime and we got him back into our car. The people who had him were worried that whoever stole him may have given him something he was allergic to as he had barely eaten and had not drunk and was salivating and was shaking permanently. I took him to the vet on the way home and got the all clear. He is sore in several places - I think he was hauled over the gate and chucked in a car - but he will be OK. He is absolutely knackered - me too - but my best mate brought his best mate round to play tonight so we have all had a good cry and too much wine. I am so grateful to doglost and its other helpers for giving me an outlet and for co-ordinating all this crap that seems to happen these days. KM are even more interested in the story now - they are disgusted and want to help stop this dog theft. I do not want to stop anyone enjoying their dogs BUT Badger was snatched in the time it took me to go to the loo AND THERE WERE 2 OF US AT HOME. Be vigilant and help me stop this. I will be re-fencing my garden - I don't want to barricade myself in but the theft of Poppy resulted in me requiring hospital treatment for stress and depression and I was in a black hole for the last 24 hours. Our daughter, Margaret, has sprung back - thank God - and is sleeping well tonight. I ought to go to bed too. Thank you, one and all.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Do invest in a cowbell for your gate so you can hear if anyone is opening it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank God for That, you poor lady to have to go through that again after all your previous bad luck. Lucky these people were stupid enough to leave the tag in the feed bag. I'm so very peased for you. I wonder if the thiefs know anything about your last stolen springer, it seems too much of a coincidence to take two from the same house.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Rebecca when you phoned yesterday i was at a loss to what to say. Of course I can offer advice on what to do etc but how you must be feeling is a differant thing. I have left a message on your phone ( landline). i suppose you are out searching again. Just get the posters out there so everyone is aware and hope that someone knows something and you hear something positive very soon. CJLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Poppy's owner
Badger is still not home. Friends have helped me search all the fields adjoining my paddock and garden and I have been out just before dusk scent marking these fields. We have also been out on all roads and fields within a 3-5 mile radius but no luck yet. I do not know if Badger has got out following a scent or if he has been removed - same time of day and same day of week as Poppy was stolen - coincidence I hope. My gates were all still shut and he was only alone for 6 minutes while I went to the loo - he was still busy in the garden. I didn't hear anything. He has never found a way out of our property before, although his "sister" (who died 3 weeks ago) was out several times into the neighbouring field. Badger is too big to fit down a fox hole. PLEASE keep a look out for him and poster and leaflet if you can - I do not think I can cope with this again. We only buried Beauty 3 weeks ago, she was a gift to Margaret to help her get over the theft of Poppy. See Poppy - ME18Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

How devastating for the owner. Coincidence or someone who's been watching the place? When we get a photo will get going on this one up this way. Wonder if there's a connection to Lenham visitors? xxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
