Great news! - but please make sure there is a notice on the gate to keep it shut. I looked after two dogs for friends last year, and the basset would run off every time the postman or someone else left the gate open! V stressful 10 days...!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Don't worry, Ruby's owner tells me that the tag is made and chip is on the way - because Ruby is so thin it hasn't been possible for the vet to do it yet. There is also a new house rule about keeping the gates shut. I think Ruby will be safe from now on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Triple wow!!! Such good news. Just had a call from Moniquej. Her husband had to scale a locked fenced-off area with a ladder to get to Ruby - what a hero. Ruby is such a lucky girl to be found again by this great family after her difficult start in life. I hope she spends many happy years with them. xxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Amazing news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ruby has been found. I had a call from the dog warden about an hour ago to say that she had been found by a young boy down near the railway track. She has just been to the vets, apart from a scratch and losing some weight she is in good condition. Many thanks to all of you on doglost for your help and support and a really special thanks to spancoluki for everything that she has done to help me.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you so much for your help spancoluki, thanks to one of the flyers you gave out I have had a call from a man who thinks that he saw Ruby running across the road by the Mormon Church on the Meadway. He said he saw a lady who already had a Boxer pick up the loose Boxer and put it in her car. He also said that a woman he was talking to who was watching this incident thinks this lady lives in one of two roads in Tilehurst. We are going out tonight to put leaflets through all of the doors in both these roads. Hopefully it might be a lead.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I postered and handed out flyers at the south side of Blundells Copse today. Put flyers through letterboxes in the immediate vicinity. Also went to Calcot Golf Club, which is close by and Fire and Rescue HQ in Dee Rd. Lady working in Meadway News, Meadway Road, confirms she also saw Ruby at approx 2pm on Friday at the junction of Norcott Rd and Pottery Road. She was in her car and the traffic had stopped to let Ruby cross. She remembers a car-sized white van turning into Pottery Rd but didn't see what happened to Ruby (all this without prompting from me). Moniquej, she may have been picked up but she may also have bolted back up to McIlroy Park. Keep plugging away at 210fm!! You are doing a great job. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Oxford road is a hugely busy road so leaflets need to be delivered to all shops. pop into the oxford road police office and see sgt scarratt and his team -leave them leaflets too. May be worth ping a leaflet into reading police station and asking for it to be generated at briefing as that area is one of the tophot spots and cops are up and down there all day and night. I want to thank Spancoluki for her support, it restores your faith in human nature when people are so kind. I have put an advert in the Reading Chronicle which should appear in Wednesdays addition and we are also going to put an advert in the evening post for Friday.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Possible sighting of Ruby this evening. My daughter was on a bus along the Oxford Rd area of Reading and she thinks that she saw Ruby with a man in his early 40s outside Mr Cod chip shop. We raced down there but there was no sign. We are going to leaflet that area tomorrow. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have just spoken to the person who thinks she witnessed Ruby being taken. The only information she could give me was that the incident happened outside the Sizzler Restaurant on Norcot Rd and the vehicle was a plain white small to medium sized van. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Admin: Owner is working really hard. Request for small flyers, please. They are using home-made at the moment to hand out. Local radio refused to help but she's not giving up on that. Advert in local paper on Wednesday. She is just going out to speak again to the person who saw Ruby and the white van on Friday on Norcott Road. This family really deserve a break as Ruby was just beginning to have the confidence to go to them in her second chance life.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, there has been a more positive sighting. My son was leafletomg again and a lady saw Ruby on Norcot Hill, Tilehurst on Friday afternoon , a white van pulled up and she didnt see Ruby after that. She thinks she was taken off in the van. So someone has got her.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi there was a possible sighting of Ruby later on Friday afternoon in the field behind the woods where I last saw her. My son was leafleting outside the local supermarket today and a lady said she thought she saw her with another dog. We are going to put some more posters up around that area, hopefully something might come of it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, thank you everyone for sending out and putting up posters. .the details of her disappearance are she went missing from our home in Tilehurst, I ran after her, and I spotted her in Blundells Copse a little wooded area in Tilehurst where we took her for walks. A man I met there offered to help, just as he was about to grab her she ran off again and that was the last we saw of her. We combed the Copse for three hours but there was no sign of her. She is quite timid for a boxer. She has been spayed so she is no use if anyone was thinking of breeding from her. Also because she has always lived at a Kennels she is not house trained either. So if anyone has her they will find her hard work. She needs a lot of TLC.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've sent the poster to a friend who lives in Caversham, closest I can get. You could try contacting the West Berks Racing Club, most members have dogs: ask them to email out the poster with a followup emailLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Moniquej, I live in a village the other side of Reading, so don't know Tilehurst that well. I could put up some posters for you tomorrow if you can say where in Tilehurst. Where did she go missing? Was it on Friday?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, thank you for your advice. I will contact 107fm tomorrow, I tried ringing today but didnt get through. We have put up loads of posters, we are going to ask the various vets to put them up tomorrow. We phoned the police station at Newbury who cover West Berkshire. The woman that answered was also a boxer owner so she was really helpful and took our details. I will also contact the chronicle and evening post tomorrow. As it is half term I will go round with my son and hand out leaflets. Thank you so much for your offer of help, everyone has been so kind.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hey there owner, also contact reading 107fm as they are dog lovers on there and will air it and also contact karl plunkett at the reading chronicle as he is a dog lover, their paper covers tilehurst and also into pangbourne, please do not rule out the fact someone may have taken her in and make sure you get as many posters as possible up and around the area, deliver leaflets through doors and just cover as much ground as you can, i know the area well and would suggest leaflets through doors and handed out to people on the street. check the front counter at reading police station and i will email the contacts i have there from my days working there to ensure the neighbourhood policing team know. please be aware that as well as reading authorities, you may need to contact west berks as you are right on the border there, so contact their dog warden and also ask the dog warden there which west berks police stations take dogs, have a feeling it is newbury or pangbourne, but cannot be sure. if you need a hand, please feel free to contact me on 07843 681980. sianLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We have had no positive sightings of Ruby since 1pm on Friday. It is so cold at night we just hope she has found somewhere out of the cold at night. My son misses her so much, she was his first dog since our old dog passed away a couple of years ago. We have only just been able to come round to the idea of getting a new dog, and we have lost her! It is devastating.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thank you for your kindness. I did not realise that 210fm did lost dog calls, I will try that tomorrow. We are very worried about Ruby, we have only had her three weeks so she was just starting to become familiar with us. She has come from a breeding kennels and had a litter of pups not very long ago, so she is quite thin from nursing them. She was only just starting to put on weight again. She is also quite a nervous dog, so I expect she is very frightened at the moment. Hopefully with all the help and support from the people on this site she will be back soon.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hope she's home safe soon. Wished I'd know sooner as I was at a dog show today in Rivermead Leisure Centre, Caversham. Could have posted there for you :o( 2Ten FM radio station might put out a lost dog call for you. Also do go and poster up in Pets At Home, there were Boxer people visiting from Tilehurst in there last week. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
