That didn't seem to work! If you search for Hertfordshire Mercury and open up their home page there is a tab at the very top which says eEdition you can open up the right page.

There was a letter in the local paper - Hertfordshire Mercury - from a very upset lady who had bought a chi pup from a couple of men in the car park of Jolleys pet shop car park. The pup was very young apparently. Please PM me if you want any more details. The lady concerned had printed her name at the bottom of the letter.

Hi Well when Pixie my dog went missing i took posters to all the travellers sites in my region and told them there was a cash reward for her safe return. I myself thought this would be an incentive if they had her to return her. I haven't heard from them but i did not see her on their sites either. I found these people to be ok and they were friendly enough, i really can't say what your traveller's will be like but i felt i had to go for my own peace of mind. I personally felt that if i posed no threat to them then they would do me no harm, i must say i went during the day when most of the older men were hopefully off the site doing whatever, only the younger lads and women were there. I can't really say you should go as the final decision will have to be yours but i thought if i told you about my experience it might help. Regards Glenys Edwards

Hi All, Just an update on the girls. Thumbalina will most certainly have had her babies by now. The St Albans connection may or may not be correct but it is a definite possibility. However, they literally could be anywhere so please please keep up the good work scouring your neighborhoods. I have had contact with a local lady who had some gypsies pestering her to sell her chihuahuas to them. She sent them packing but that was last week and approx 1 mile from me. If anyone knows of a way to get info from the travellers please do let me know. Is it worth saying how much I would give to get them back or not?? Just thinking it may be an incentive. The police advised me not to as I would get a lot of hoaxes but honestly I will do anything to get my girls back. I have also been thinking about maybe some sort of psychic medium type person who may be able to help. We are close to St Albans too and still wondering why here? I also had problem with the link to the posters, will try to get some to the local vets just in case they get called to the puppies.

yes why St Albans? I have a friend in Clitheroe who goes to the market but she is not a dog person so don't want to lean on her unless we think these two are still in that part of the country

Friends in Blackburn aware these two are missing and will keep an eye out. Not going to Tockholes training for a fortnight, if anyone in area the Cafe is a good place to poster, lots of dog walkers use it. Stay safe hope your home soon.

hi i will keep my eyes open here in castleton and at the farm in heywood were my horse is stabled, clitheroe do get a lot of sales of alsorts i think weds night is chickens etc and the first saturday of every month is horses but you can buy dogs etc from cars and horseboxes plus there is an auction at holmfirth which is also a home to anything goes!! hope they return soon nicola xx

Hi All Just an update re the missing girls, tinkerbell and Thumbalina. I have been totally overwhelmed by such a wonderful response from people whom I have never even met. How kind people can be! Everyone without exception is totally horrified as to what has happened especially as thumbalina is due to have her babies today. the Police have been amazing and have sent a press release to all the local and National newspapers and radio stations. I have been on one of our local radio stations today and they are running the story every hour!! I cannot thank you all enough dear friends. Say a prayer that the girls are ok and that they will soon be back home with their Mummy!! Heartfelt thanks and God Bless Annie

spoken to owner re the clitheroe auctions, dogs get sold from cars there. Have asked my friends who attend the market to keep a look out. Owners had advertised on the net so that may be behind this wicked crime.

This is sickening! What we need is a change in the law, to deter people buying dogs an puppies in pubs, papers etc except direct from the breeder or a Rescue. Isn't it illegal to handle stolen goods? So it should be to buy/be in possession of a stolen dog. The law needs to reflect the severity of the crime - it is halfway between kidnapping and theft and the punishments should show this.

Actually Sara has a point, has the garden and neighbouring gardens been thoroughly checked to be on the safe side, Thumbellina could have got scared, bolted and is hiding out. It is a possibility.

Definately stolen owners were in the house they heard one of the dogs scream-immediately ran out and the 2 dogs had been taken-evidence left where they jammied the fence to get them out.
