RIP Geanina x.
Sadly another terrified newly rescued dog lost to our roads x.
I assisted in trying to help one in November and sadly the outcome was the same, although Lottie wasn't a Romanian rescue she was a stray here, but traumatised none the less x.

I am no dog expert - far from it - but I think potential owners of these rescued Romanian and other traumatised rescue dogs need to be better prepared by the rescues in order to protect them. I rescued two semi-feral cats fifteen years ago and trained them to understand that the road was VERY DANGEROUS. One of them died from natural causes and the other is still with us. He tends to cross the road through underground water pipes and hears cars changing gear to come into our car park. I am still working on our two-year old dog, although he is always on the lead on roads.

Hi, thank you for sharing, we have had an update from earlier today. Our colleague who went up there this morning saw signs on the Motorway flashing signs before he came off, to say there was a reduced speed limit as animals were on the motorway. After contacting the Highways agency it was confirmed that a dog matching Geanina's description was on the hard shoulder on the south bound side (which means she did indeed cross the motorway) and police officers did attend. When they arrived she was on the hard shoulder, they tried to coax her with food but she ran into the undergrowth towards the fields.... so she is still alive and thankfully wasn't hit by a car. We do have people on sight tomorrow so if anyone wishes to help by distributing and putting up posters then please message our fb page, the link is in the comments below, thank you Dani for adding that.
