http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/95/40318895.html Another bulldog ad in gumtree.  I can't see the picture of Bella on my work computer, is anyone else able to see if there is a resemblance.  I remember Bella as being mostly white.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/76/26477576.html Please look at this add and tell me I am not the only one who is suspicious of this?  The woman who stole Bella had a wee boy with her and this add specifically mentions good with young children.  Also the ages are off and the dog has recently been bred from which sounds like something a crook would do.  And ?1000 for a dog with no papers?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

After contacting the owner several times to get an update on Bella, there has been no reply, so I can only assume the owners son, who is dealing with the matter, does not require any further help from Doglost on this. Owner> if you do think we can help, please contact me. Kind regards Sable Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Quite agree, cant help think they were taken somewhere else as a Bulldog is SO noticeable.xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Looking back through the Bulldogs, I find it bizarre that these two dogs, below, went missing and were dumped back in their own garden when they turned out to be too hot to handle, and now Bella stolen and all three in south Scotland. Dog ID=1598 Dog ID=2966 A pattern by the looks of it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If I lived near the ferry ports then I'd be bombarding them with posters! Unfortunately I'm on the wrong side of the country. It would give the ferry operators great publicity!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Agreed about the Irish connection. It really is horrendous, that dogs are going missing from people travelling on ferries to and from Ireland, as well as everywhere else. It is high time the Irish authorities start to take iniative and do something to stop this crime which is going on under their noses.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

As there could well be an Irish connection here, do we have the ability to get posters up, at least around the ports over there? Have the Irish authorities been alerted to this scam? Seems to me there is a pattern of Bullie bitches being taken lately. Unfortunately the high price the pups command isn't in their favour. Also it seems to me that responses from adverts in a local paper have to be treated with great caution..... God, what a word we are living in.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have heard today, from the owner' son, that he was contacted by another person who has had this crime happen to him also, in the same way, same tactics. There are some very ruthless people out there, so everyone, please do not let your guard down. Be extremely careful with your dog's safety. Read the story here. Does anyone have any contacts in Northern Ireland and the Republic? Knowing what I know about horse theft, they ended up over the sea a lot of the time which got them off the radar pretty quickly (a lot of the stolen Irish horses ended up over here too). I know its a bit late now, but perhaps it's an idea to send info on dogs such as Bella to the Ferry ports covering the Irish sea? I'm limited on what I can do with the computers at work lol but will try to come up with something when I get home. Fingers crossed there is some news to come from the Police etc with regards info.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Ardrossan & Saltcoats comes under North Ayrshire. Owners need to get the Scottish Sun or Daily Record for Strathclyde (Glasgow). We have a friendly taxi driver in Wishaw (North Lanarkshire) area and he is happy to take posters out for dispatch to his hires tonight..... lets get this girl home!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi yes I just looked that herald up on the internet and it made the front cover! Well the more people that see her the more likely she is to get caught! I can't remember off-hand if Strathclyde cover that area.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

No problem Jayne, I'm very new and still wet behind the ears. Figners crossed something can be done about this! It is so encouraging to see people pull together like this. I also have every faith that the cops are doing all they can! But then I'm biased )Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

My God, this is just unbelievable. Talk about brass neck. These people sound like they know exactly what they are doing and how to do it. To be so cold blooded about it, it sounds like they are experts at it, and have done it before. It sounds well planned. That poor lady must be shellshocked. I wonder if she got a look at the make and colour of the car. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I've posted on the Aberdeen Gumtree too. Can we have posters distributed to folk down south? The "husband" could be English, Irish or Welsh which would mean Bella could've already left Scotland! I was looking on the doglost lists and far too many bulldogs have been stolen, rather than run off. Many bulldog puppies are also being advertised for sale where it says "parents can be seen, no papers hence price" and you are still talking ?900 for an unregistered pup.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

If you can tell us which local paper Bella was advertised in we will alert our contacts in that area as Strathclyde covers a wide area. Hopefully this "person" may be local to have read that particular local paper. Again as Granitecitygirl said try to stay positive as Bella will stick out if offered for sale or taken into a vet.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Try the George Bowie breakfast show at Clyde Radio - he has helped with requests for our "Glaswegian" lost dogs in the past. george.bowie@clyde1.com tel 0141 565 2200 We have also had help from the Evening Times so again give them a call. We will keep our eyes out as its local to our Bearsden Office. Try putting posters up at Braehead Shopping Centre, The Glasgow Fort etc..... Good LuckLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is horriffic!!! To think these kind of scams happen in the UK. This sounds like a theft to order. The difficulty with Glasgow is that it's so close to the Scottish Border (1.5 hrs drive) and the Irish ferry ports (approx 1hr). Please distribute the posters further afield than Scotland! The good thing is they are not a popular breed up here so is more likely to be spotted. The bad thing is she is prime breeding age for a puppy farmer. The SSPCA and RSPCA should also be informed as they will be aware of these scum. Hope she turns up soon! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This happened in Scotland to an elderly lady who advertised her 9 month old bulldog for sale in the local paper. The woman was subsequently visited by a woman in her thirties, approximately 5'6" tall, well dressed with blonde hair and what has been described as a "large mouth". She was well spoken with a Scottish accent, claiming to be an x-bullmastiff breeder from Airdrie. She was accompanied by a three year old boy and her husband who was in the car. After 20 minutes the woman asked if she could show the dog to her husband and to show she was "genuine", left her handbag, two rolls of money which she claimed was ?2000 in cash and placed her phone and her keys on the table. She left the house with the dog and was never seen again. The rolls of money were nothing more than cut up newspaper with a ?20 note around each bundle, the mobile phone was old and switched off. It is obvious that she has pulled this scam before so if you live in the Strathclyde area of Scotland and have a dog advertised DO NOT let anyone leave before you have received full payment - no matter how trustworthy they appear. Bella is a 9 months old entire red and white bitch She is not microchipped Born 11 May 2007 CAN YOU HELP FIND HER? Local press have been informed If you have any information please contact: ?
