ruthann all good ideas but there are so many people breeding dogs now that are not register breeders so they would slip through the net when it come to compulsory chipping, what's needed to be done is anyone found breeding and specially if they are getting papers for the dogs then that should be one of the conditions from the kennel club that all the pups have to be chip, and breeding should always be license, but there again you always have the puppy farms, who would not chip dogs at all. my husbands friend at work has just rehomed a lovely lab x collie about a year old very obedient and well behaved but was in a rescue kennels i cant believe that this dog was not someones treasured pet and had gone missing you are quite right it should be law that all dogs are chipped as pups and details held on a central list all horses now have to have passports whether they are pets or racehorses so why not dogs it would go a long way to helping Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
staffy girl
so people look for months for their dogs but never find them in time , so they get rehomed, thats why you need them chipped and tagged so simple ............xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Or maybe the dog was stolen and dumped in another part of the country... rescues don't keep these dogs very long if they are attractive, and goodness knows how many slip away thru not being CHIPPED!! If only there were one central computer system for recording these dogs and putting them online, to give owners a chance. Owner might have been in a car crash, or had a stroke out walking, and taken off to hospital - we just don't know!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
