I'm so very pleased to see that this gorgeous little girl is back home with her Dad! She really is an absolute little darling. A HUGE thank you to the journalist at the Hull Daily Mail who ran Jade's story and, of course, to our Keelah for contacting them in the first place! Just one small (but everso important) request, could this very precious girl have a nice, new, shiny ID tag on her collar to compliment her microchip? Dont know if you managed to speak to owner jan, ive emailed the rescue in hull telling them about jade, and asking if they can look and see if she has this extra dew claw on back leg, it dose look a bit big for her, but they grow so fast at this sort of age, worth checkingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Would it be worth commenting on the readers comments, that jade has a long tail, and only one dew claw on her back leg, at least it would distinguish her from any other rottie pup????? or has that been witheld for a reasonLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A disabled man who suffers from a rare genetic syndrome is searching for his 14-week-old puppy, which he hoped would help make his life easier. Michael Gooch has spent hours trawling the streets in his mobility scooter in a bid to find the Rottweiler, called Jade. Now, the former labourer hopes Mail readers will recognise his beloved puppy from her photograph and help reunite the pair. Article Continues Mr Gooch, 31, who lives alone, was training Jade to help complete basic tasks around his home, such as taking washing out of the machine and retrieving everyday items. But the puppy went missing from the garden of his home in Scotney Close, off Beverley Road, west Hull, between 4pm and 6pm on Friday, February 1. Since then, Mr Gooch, who suffers from the little-known Andersen-Tawil Syndrome, has put up 150 posters on lampposts and posted 200 leaflets through doors. He said: "I am frantic with worry and know there is someone reading this who has information on the whereabouts of Jade. "Despite my illness, I managed to muster enough energy to tour the area in my mobility scooter looking for her. "She is not just a dog and a pet to me, she is my lifeline. She is being trained to assist me around the house, such as picking things up and collecting the telephone. "I live alone and Jade is about the only friend I've got. I am appealing to those who have her or know where she is to return her to me so we can continue her training." Despite being microchipped, Michael has heard no news on the whereabouts of the puppy he paid ?200 for last December. Mr Gooch, who has trained several dogs before, said Jade could potentially make a huge difference to his quality of life. He said: "My condition means I have difficultly doing simple things for myself. I have been in hospital more than 100 times." Andersen-Tawil Syndrome affects the heart. There are also physical abnormalities associated with the condition, which typically affect the head, face and limbs. These features often include an unusually small lower jaw, low-set ears, and an abnormal curvature of the fingers called clinodactyly. If untreated, the irregular heartbeats can lead to discomfort, fainting, or even a heart attack. Paralysis is also common. A police spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 5.18pm on Thursday, February 7. The caller said the dog was 14 weeks old and black and tan coloured. She has a collar with a name-tag on it and is microchipped. "Humberside Police are investigating the alleged theft and would appeal for anyone who has any information or knows the whereabouts of the puppy to call us on 0845 6060222 quoting log 444 of February 7." Mr Gooch is being helped in his search for Jade by www.doglost.co.uk - a national organisation that uses volunteers to help the owners of lost and stolen dogs. The organisation puts up posters, helps with searches and checks rescue centres and vets. The site, which has 20,000 members and receives more than one million hits a month, has recently celebrated reuniting its 5,000th dog. Anyone with information can call Mr Gooch on (01482) 213920 or the Mail on (01482) 315257 Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks hopeithelps, sorry to see you have been ill, hope you are now better. I've looked at the dog on the website you have mentioned, the markings look slightly different, but maybe the owner can also take a look. If you are local are you able to help with the postering? I did try and contact owner today but there was no answer. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry have been ill in bed all day so not managed to contact anyone or do anything today, hopefully tomorrow. Reading the newspaper article it says Jade was lost outside owners house HU2 rather than city centre (it is still pretty close to the town centre) - just wondered if anyone had postered Pearson Park - it is the nearest big green space, and if dog are allowed, am sure would be popular with dog walkers. Also on Carr House Rescue in Hull there is a puppy called Philadelphia - described as a Rottie X with long tail, female, 5-6 months, difficult to get size perspective, but think worth a look.
