- Should be a photo on site soon of Max at home. I went and collected this big boy from Selsdon vets, many thanks there for looking after him (even though he did sleep loads). He was a model passenger considering he doesn't travel in cars much and decided he'd prefer the back seat to sitting in the boot of my 4 x 4. No problem just stepped over, lol. He had a meal in the vets and another in the car. Owner and family overjoyed to say the least and I do believe he will be receiving visitors tonight and for days, all so relieved he is home again. His collar and lead had gone and he was found wandering at 6am this morning in Warlingham. Taken to vets when they opened and the rest is history. Yes without doubt this boy was stolen and dumped. Owner says she wonders if it was because he barks a lot at passers by and they couldn't keep him quiet. Whatever it was we will never know, but Richmond & the surrounding areas will now be more aware of dog theft and that no dog is to big to be snatched if the opportunity arises. Just to see Max rolling on his back on the sofa with legs in the air and talking dog talk was wonderful. Stay safe now Max. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Thanks everyone, good suggestions. I managed to meet lots of walkers today, one lady said she had told owner about Doglost, but took poster anyhow for phone number. I postered the side roads as main routes seem covered. Church Avenue, couldn't get along railway side on either side because of road works, which is good because its doubtful max will either. Also side roads leading to Palewell Park and Richmond Park from various directions. Nabbed mobile council gardeners who were out in force and will carry in vans. Replaced some black and white posters with no plastic on them, with colour covered. Ajo I went past it and didn't give it a thought, thanks for bringing it up. Mind you I did short cut to first avenue. Seems to be a waiting game now and hope owners turn up something with CCTV that is being checked out. One thing not mentioned, the horrible bit of dog searching we all try not to think about. The railway and highways departments. Can owners, if not already, call into Sheen station and check no reports of anything on the lines? Likewise, check with street cleansing and ask if they scan any fatalities. Sorry to raise it, but once done its out of the way and we can move on again. Just a thought, but if he was taken and it was on foot, there is the council estate at Priory Lane and quite within walking distance. Anyone been there? Could owner possible log on and register here to let us know and keep us up to date? Many thanks. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Riverlady, you are our helper on the ground so yes if you can email these organisations that would be great. Owner seems to have done heaps already, but always room for more. Ajo, many thanks for acknowledging recipt. We know your guys are always on the ball. Don't know if sheen common is under Ajo or Richmond area? But can do the cemetery myself and pay a visit whilst there. Will also try for Queens Road if nobody else has done it, which brings you back up to Ham. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

On the look out as well + will ask other dogwalkers.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Sorry Sue meant to say the East Sheen cemetery not the big one on the A23 that is the one you are thinking about, the cemetery I'm talking about is along the road towards Twickenham. that backs onto the Richmond Park.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

- Sue cemetery backs onto Richmond park I know this as I use to live up that way and my parents are in that cemetery, and I use to see a lot of dogs wounder into it from the park and it is also used as a cut through, What high street did he go from was it Twickenham.? - Max's disappearence is now being treated as theft. Owner and family friends have postered Sheen, Roehampton, Mortlake and live in the Richmond area. Max, if set free could potentially walk home as he is often walked to Sheen and surrounding areas. Local parks done, Vine Park, Palewell Park, Richmond gate entrances and patrols. Police involved and checking CCTV. Shops, vets and rescues all alerted. Battersea also alerted. Richmond & Twickenham doing an editorial for owner too. Dog Wardens for Wandsworth and Richmond advised. He went missing from the high street, no witnesses, but is very well known in the area. Photo is on route. If you are in the area and see a spot missed for posters do place one. I will let Rangers at Wimbledon know as they also cover Barnes common and Roehampton. He can't be missed and is quite friendly despite size. Sue xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
