Thank you so so much for everyone’s help I’m afraid I went into shock and couldn’t think straight didn’t help we had no WiFi to connect us. We tried to look first light morning after (fri) but weather beat us couldn’t see, soaked through nr hypothermia or would have sat out. Went back when we could see on sat and I scoured the sheep pens and rocks but still no sign.

Hi I have just been speaking to a doggy friend who has met Esmee she thinks people sitting with dogs playing and with food may entice her more as she is scared of people but loves dogs.

Graham from the Drone page is all in contact with Matthew on the ground there and has pilots if the weather calms. Mathew has updated info re where and how she was lost and will review that in the morning.
Riggers you have been brilliant and I know Wese (fb name) has been in contact with you.
It is now her 5th night out with no sightings
ClaireC
I'm sure she will have bedded down for the night now.
Riggers
Thank you Sammie, I have told Maggie to bring something with her scent on it to try and coax Esmee out of hiding. I am staying positive and praying she is hiding and sheltering somewhere. All the locals have been sharing information with as many people as possible, farmers, walkers, mountain rescue - anyone who we can think of who could help. I am very concerned with the bad weather. Hoping to get up to the Summit tomorrow
DogLostJan -North West and Police Liaison Coordinator
Thank you all who have been searching for Esmee.Unfortunately i don't think it will be possible with the weather for a drone to do a search.I will enquire and also speak to Esmee's owners this evening x
Sammie
Mathew (from the Rescue) who has been searching there all day says "I got told she's either by rangers path or llanberis path, spoke to 40/50 people as I got to llanberis and they were looking so I went to rangers path and all the surrounding area knows, spoke to the farmers who have been doing work on the path for the last couple of days and they haven't seen anything and they are up and down constantly."

So this is the same are as noted on her details above.

He is still in the area but he says winds are very high.

If anyone does have any updated info to an area please post so any further volunteers who go up to search can focus on those.
It does sound like the locals have been very very helpful which is wonderful.Last edited: 2017-10-16 16:24:01 by Sammie

Riggers you are doing a fabulous job. Juniper who posted below and a couple of others of the Many Tears Fosters / exfosterers are expert dog catchers as well as fosterers. This is not my area but I am very good at catching dogs and I am an experienced fosterer.
95% of this type of exbreeder will stay within 1/2 - 1 mile of where lost unless challenged (by a human or animal) that scares them further. Typically they will back into something ensuring their eyes can see the outside. Only on rare cases have I known little ones to travel great distances but when they have its been up to 41 miles. But generally they run and hide.

The owners don't seem to be posting on here or on social media? so it is unclear what they did intially when she went? bolted? was frightend? Generally if they correct steps are taken a dogs can be caught within a few days but that would have ment the owner staying in exactly the same place for 24hours. or at a min leaving unwashed clothing at that spot. If they didn't in a dogs head they return to the spot, no person or anyting familiar is around so they go off again - just so you understand how a dog reacts.

Does anyone know When? they notified their chip company she was missing? In the area we are in dogs often end up many miles from where they were found as people take them to where they were going. EG. we had one picked up at Stonehedge and taken to St Albans, another picked up Larkhill taken to Exeter etc. And if the numbers are then called but say only a land line and on one answers. A dog can sit in kennels waiting to be claimed. There is no evidence of this but it must be excluded as many will know it does happen when its a place with lots of visitors.

Re SARDA I looked it up but I highly suspect their dogs are trained to IGNORE dog scent as they track humans?

In these conditions definately the Drones are the best chance if they can fly and get permission over the National Park. Last post I saw from Graham indicated this.

Riggers, do you know if the owners are returning? or left? or sending on scent articles? This is all needed should you get a sighting but cannot catch her easily. And if she is still up there do you know anyone with a trap as you may need one and it is always best to be prepared so you can move quickly if there is a sighting.

Wese if she is following this? has had many great ideas on how to catch a dog without using a normal trap. But if you are unsure of how to catch her if you get a sighting by all means ask one of us or one of the MT staff if they post as we are very used to dealing with these scared dogs.
Riggers
#stoppettheft Mountain rescue have been informed but good thinking sharing wth Sarda. I just want to be up there myself looking for her but in the current weather conditions it is very difficult. Hoping to get up there soon so I can do something to help, feel so useless. Thank you so much for all your help, much appreciated
DogLostOwl
Would it be possible to get a drone up, obviously not until the current gale has blown over?
DogLostJan -North West and Police Liaison Coordinator
Esmee is from Many Tears Animal Rescue. She was adopted in May this year so is not as frightened as some of our ex-breeding dogs. We understand her owner was on holiday and has had to return home so we really need help from people in the area and are putting a plea out on our Facebook group and forum in case there is anyone who can help. It's so cold on Snowdonia Esmee needs to be found asap. Thank you to everyone who is helping and if you can put posters up we would really appreciate it.

Have https://www.facebook.com/SARDAWales/?hc_location=ufi been contacted - are they aware ?
I DID 'tag' them in a Facebook post but I cannot See Esmee's photo /details on their Timeline anywhere ?
very recently, a Trainee Search Dog was Lost on the mountain & many many people helped share etc. until He was Found Safe.
I will post Esmee's Doglost link as a 'comment' on Ben's 'thread'
Hope this helps x

Marbie thanks so much for your lovely message, you're right, times like these really restore your faith in human kindness, it's sometimes easy to forget that in this day and age with so many terrible things happening in the world. But luckily there are a lot more kind people than mean people. We aren't going up on the trains again today, yes it is windy but one good thing is that it is really warm, about 20 degrees which can only be a good thing. Still hoping Esmee is hiding somewhere, I went to the start of the Llanberis path up Snowdon and asked walkers to keep their eyes and ears open.
Marbie
Me too Riggers and it's wonderful how everyone goes out of their way to help in situations like these isn't it? I feel useless that I can't do anything but if people who know the area are struggling with the weather strangers would be more of a hindrance than anything. Wishing you all success in finding Esmee xx
Riggers
Juniper and Marbie, Farmers in the area have been informed, they have been sharing info on their personal FB pages and to groups of farmers. I am just hoping Esmee is hiding somewhere safe and sheltering, I'm very concerned with this storm coming tomorrow. I will be up at the Summit as soon as the wind drops down and will be putting up more posters asap. Thanks for your help and good wishes
Riggers
Many Tears Rescue At times like this the people in my village of Llanberis all chip in and we are all trying to help find Esmee. Many locals are sharing info and doing what we can. I have put posters up around Llanberis in local shops and businesses and at the start of the Llanberis path up Snowdon. I hope with all my heart that Esmee is hiding somewhere and that she will be found.
Marbie
Juniper it says further down in the comments that they are letting the farmers know which is one of the best things to do as they will be in an area they know and also hopefully have dogs with them. We just have to pray this little lady is somewhere safe and dry so she doesn't chill in the winds. If she's from Many Tears she is probably more able to cope with the cold than others but will be frightened as would most dogs be. Typically it is a bad weekend. Stay safe little one xx
Riggers
Thanks Jean, much appreciated!
Riggers
Sharon Thank you so much for sharing across social media, on behalf of the owners thank you all so much for your help, support and good wishes. Let's keep going!

Riggers is there any way of getting information to the farmers in the Area? Us slightly further away peeps could contact farmers with animals on the mountain because if nothing g else they will be checking their stock as soon as the weather improves even if that's not until Tepuesday or Wednesday but that gives us a window to get information out to them. Wondering if there is any farming community groups or FB pages we can be cascading info out to or direct contact with farmers with grazing rights on the mountain.

Woodville The owners are not local and it's a long way for the rescue people to come but good thinking. The owners have searched everywhere but had to return home on Saturday evening. They are devastated. Just so that everybody knows, her lead was still attached when she ran away, it's the pink one she has on in the photo and she has a yellow collar
Riggers
sheltielover I know, I work on the mountain and that's what I'm hoping, there are loads of places to shelter and That's what I'm hoping. Thank you so much, that's brilliant, glad to hear it's been shared with farmers in the area. Can't believe the kindness everybody has shown, the owners are so grateful to all of you, so thanks so much to everyone, you're all so kind
Riggers
Christie, thank you very much for the share. I know, I work on the mountain and it's just not helping that we can't get to the Summit to have a proper look. Thanks again
Woodville
Does anyone know the rescue Esmee is from as they may be able to help in the search
sheltielover
Riggers there are quite a lot of places where she is missing that she can hide out of the wind in, they are known to the farmers in the area especially, have asked someone to share to all farmers' groups in the area.
Christie
Not a good place to be lost in bad weather. Hope that Esmee is found safe and well. Have listed her missing on ckcsforums.
Riggers
Jan, thank you very much for letting me know, what incredible work you do to help find these missing dogs. Sending up a drone to try and find her is brilliant, I'm really worried with these strong winds getting worse on Monday. Thank you so much again on behalf of her owners to everyone for their efforts in helping to find Esmee.

Thank you for the share Marbie, much appreciated 👍

Thank you so much everyone for all your help and shares. I met her owners today and promised I would do all I can to help them. I work on the Snowdon Mountain Railway and have asked everyone to keep their eyes open. Juniper, thanks for that, I have updated the breed. I have printed and laminated posters and put them up around Llanberis. Fingers crossed she will be found safely. Thanks again everybody for your help 👍🏻
