Text message sent asking owners to check found dog id 15652. Although Lucy looks like she has a darker muzzle, worth them taking a look. Thanks to helper for suggesting Lucy as a match.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for sending message to warden, . . not been able to speak to them yet. . . This dog does look very similar, I must have looked at the pic dozens of times, the face is spot on, same colouring and "not impressed" expression, just looks to small in the body, too whippet like? Hi, I have just been having a quick look back though all the messages on here. I know I said this before, about where to look but one of the messages from Assistant Pack Leader on the 27/1/08 said that a dog that looked like Lucy, was seen running down Crookbrom Lane towards Station Rd in Hatfield. Well someone who lived on one of the roads off Broadway in Dunscroft, had my dog Ellie. When I told the Police where I had found her, they were far from surprised. The Greyhound Stadium is actually not that far away and it seems that there are a lot of people who course around there and they do a lot of breedfor this purpose.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the info and ideas everyone, been in touch with a few really helpful people, . . . my friends and I are looking to arrange some kind of sponsored dog walk in the summer, to raise some money and awareness, and to say thanks to DogLost for all the help,. . . Lucy is really my Nanna's dog, she spent every day at her house keeping her company, and it has been a great comfort to my Nan to think that people are keeping an eye out for Lucy. x x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I really do advise the owner to get the racecourse onside, you or they will be able to give a poster to all the staff there, groundsmen etc and the people who look after the course itself who go over to the far side. Also get posters in eg the stable lads' canteen, the weighing room, the catering depts etc etc. Doncaster Racecourse website will have contact numbers, try press and pr deptLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, I Lost Ellie on holiday in Hatfield, Doncaster in August last year. If you look her up on the found page, you will see Lucy and Ellie could be twins. I got in touch with the greyhound stadium in Stainforth and they were happy to put up a poster for me. The best place to poster, as far as I am concernd is the Stainforth, Dunscroft and Dunsville area. That is where Ellie was and there were posters all over for lost dogs. I say nothing but. The Libraries in the area were pleased to put posters up also. It seems that once you contact the dog warden, everyone who works for the council in every department is notified. I ASKED HER ABOUT A LURCHER LIVING ROUGH ON THE FIELDS AND SHE SAID SHE HADN'T ACTUALLY SEEN IT HERSELF BUT HAD HEARD ABOUT IT AND THE DOG WARDEN TRYING TO CATCH IT. sHE SAID SHE VISITS THERE TWICE ADAY EVERYDAY. HAD A DRIVE ROUND TOO AND NO SIGN BUT THE WEATHER IS SO DAMN MISERABLE AND COLD IT WAS HARD TO SEE ANYWHERE. hAD A QUICK LOOK BY ELMFIELD PARK TOO WHICH IS OVER THE ROAD BUT COULDN'T SEE ANYTHING. THERE ARE SO MANY HIDING PLACES AND VAST GRASSY AREAS INCLUDING THE RACECURSE SO ITS JUST HITTING LUCKY. I WOULD DEFINATELY POSTER THE 3 AREAS BECAUSE IF SOMEONE DOES CATCH HER AND IT IS LUCY THEN SHE HAS NO CHIP AND YOU WILL NEVER GET HER BACK, AND ALSO KEEP ON AT THE DOGWARDEN AND HAMPOLE KENNELS JUST INCASE. I HOPE YOUR LUCK CHANGES SOON. HAVE YOU CONTACTED THE FREEPRESS TO SEE IF THEY WILL RUN A STORY, I'M SURE THEY WOULD BECAUSE YOU ARE SO DESPERATE TO FIND HER. Hi there Lucy's owners, sorry you didn't get a sighting yesterday, couldn't get over today has car trouble and by time I got it sorted it was near enough time for my 3 boys to come home from school. Anyway going to go over there first thing and spend a few hours looking around in the morning. Did the people who you spoke to give a description of the lurcher at all. Have you postered around there. If you would like me to pick up some posters from you I would. Where abouts at town moor is the hockey club. Anyway whether its Lucy or not (fingers crossed it is) the dog needs to be caught one way or another and now I know there is a dog living rough, I won't be able to rest until the poor thing is rescued. If you would like me to poster for you or search with you I could always pick you up. I'll do my best to help. If you want to ring me my number is 01302 702194. I will post tomorrow night to let you know either way if I saw or found anything out.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

This is a long shot really. There is a lurcher in a rescue in Durham who looks like Lucy, although looking at your photo this dog may not have a dark enough muzzle. Anyway worth having a look http://www.strayaction.com/detail.php?d=2&w=0&id=1057 Good luck and I hope she is staying safe xx Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Been to look for the elusive lurcher again, no luck, but found out she's been sleeping behind the hockey club for the last 6 wks, . . .the guys there told me someone had been feeding her and trying to catch her, (they thought the dog warden) but after speaking with the wardens, RSPCA and local kennels, I'm informed they only take dog that're already contained? I'm at a loss as to who these people may have been, and as she's not been seen for the last wk, wonder if the've succeeded? Tried all the local kennels, she's not been handed in. Strange?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

We travelled over to the area to search and poster for both of them when they first went missing. It would be great if you come across the stray lurcher living in the playing fields. ! pam xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is Selby Game Fair at Carlton Towers this weekend - 21/22/23/24 March - very popular with lots of dog people from a wide area - it must be worth getting some posters there or a stand with all the missing dogs on or something. Doglost admin may be able to advise best approach. Got these contact details of a flyer through our door. It is a SGF Ltd Organised Event - Tel: 01205 871354 / Mobile 07970 489605. For Trader Booking please visit their website - www.selbygamefair.co.uk. Am absolutely snowed under at work this week and have printer probs but would be available Fri am (good Friday) if any help needed to hand out flyers/posters at the event. Yorkshire owners and helpers, do you know it's MIDDLEHAM OPEN DAY on Good Friday [coming up...] People will be converging on Middleham, Manton and other local racing stables in the area, big crowds, lots of dog owners... If you get to Middleham early you'll be able to accost people as they arrive, maybe eg in the main car parks, or at tyhe main 'opening' in the Market Square. Please see website http://www.middlehamstablesopenevent.co.uk/ for details, parking, etc etc, This is a fantastic opportunity to leaflet a huge number of people, many of whom will be dog owners and walkers, also riding and racing people. In the afternoon two other N Yorks yards are open - the Duffields at Constable Burton, and Bill Ratcliffe at Leyburn [he's a mate!]. We're getting on the case down south for Lambourn Open Day, suggest you all do the same! The day is sponsored by the Northern Echo by the way.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Please be aware that it is the LINCOLN MEETING at Doncaster Racecourse [Town Moor] this coming Satuday - the traditional start to the Flat season. The meeting will be very well attended, no doubt also by our travelling friends. I suggest local owners missing their dogs - esp lurchers - get together to bombard the racegoers esp when leaving the meeting, with fliers. See the RP website racingpost.co.uk for the times of races - people will start arriving early, may well have to queue to get into the course, and will start to leave after the second last race, continuing till about 40mins after the last - they will also have to queue to get out. I'm not sure if anyone trains on Town Moor itself, will look later. Suggest local owners also send fliers etc to Doncaster Bloodstock Sales etcLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have today taken a list of all the dogs missing in the Yorkshire area and emailed the list to YEP & YP, Calendar, Look North, Radio Leeds and the Paul O Grady Show (thank you to hopeithelps for this suggestion). 32 dogs missing since 1st Feb 2008!!!! I am hoping that by lisiting them all individually it will make them sit up and take notice. If we all do the same hopefully we can get someone to take notice!!!!!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Most dogs are very timid and become afraid of being near humans when they have been out so long-so I would not dismiss the sightings. How far away is this from where Lucy went?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi, Just a quick update, a blonde lurcher bitch has been living on the Town Moore playing fields in Doncaster, . . I've not managed to see it yet, I always seem to just miss it. I don't think it is my Lucy, as it's described as being really afraid of people, but if anyone out there has lost a similar dog it's worth a look x x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks for the info. Drove round Hatfield last night, couldn't see anything but it's possible she's tried to make her own way back from my Nans to Kirk Sandall and got lost. . . She was wearing a blue spakly denim collar with LOVE written on it, it's quite unusual. She's so friendly though and loves people, she'd not think twice of adopting a new family, so I do fear that she may have been taken in by someone.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A friend of mine has seen the poster on my car this morning (Sunday) and thinks she has seen Lucy on Crooksbrom Lane in Hatfield in the last few days. She saw a dog fitting Lucy's description running down the road towards Station Road. It looked lost, so much so that my friend commented to her husband that the dog shouldn't be out on it's own. It's a long shot but could have been Lucy. I have text the owners.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I know you will want to keep searching for Lucy, but its very important that these first few days you get as many posters up everywhere. Read some of the other threads for ideas, but firstly, put loads near to where she went missing from, and then wherever lots of people go. Put the posters inside plastic sleeves with the opening at the bottom to protect from rain. This way you dont need to keep relacing them in the bad weather and can concentrate on sightings. You will need to put probably hundreds of posters up. The more posters the more sightings. It only takes that one special poster that someone sees and associates with Lucy to bring her home. Give posters to dog walkers and put them on the dog bins. Dog people will help each other, and it will get many more eyes searching. At night she will have found herself somewhere safe to hole up, but she will be about as it gets light for hunting. Any boot sales tomorrow or church services could be postered, supermarkets, football matches, pubs, takeaways, schools. Try and get family and friends to help do this. As I said, these first few days are very important to spread the word. Good Luck, and stay safe Lucy, until you are home x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi another local dogwalker found a blond lurcher bitch over the fields/quarry park area of Dunsville on or around the 5th/6th. I did see the dog & there is a possibility it`s Lucy. She was handed in to Thorne police & transfered to Mount Plesant Kennels phone number 01302 722748 . I would advise a visit to Mount Plesant to check & be certain. Fingers crossed!
