Yes, various breeds and crossbreeds can do this work. It depends on the individual dog. We tracked Nellie on Saturday and Sunday, but the spells of heavy rain made it difficult. However, we did find a trail along grassy tracks which eventually led to a minor road and to the next village, where we lost it. It does appear that Nellie went down to farms and houses rather than up to the moorland pastures. Everyone in the area knows, everyone is looking out for her.

I have spoken to Susan, apparently someone with a drone did go last night but without success. ( not sure who it was). Susan has someone staying there today who has a tracker dog & they are going out on a further search. Seems a scent was picked up earlier towards the woods. She has people coming over tomorrow, so I have suggested a systematic search, where the area is marked off into grids & they do a grid each & mark off when done & continue until they have done as much as they can.
Hopefully Nellie will be found soon. Everything crossed.

Have spoken to owner of Nellie. She was spooked in the garden by something falling & ran off. They have had help from friends/relatives in area with searching. Have given further advice.
They have also had the use of thermal imaging cameras & are continuing to search
