JAYNE (HO) - not sure what your "DP" means. Yorkie(s) reported running around in Preston's Deepdale area (apparently resembling Jenny or very much like her) - there's not at lot to add to the info given in my e-mail to admin@doglost.co.uk 28/11 (01:13). A seemingly (and we believe real) genuine tel call from a lady who had seen a poster of ours at a shop in Ribbleton area (and via eventual live tel call with her) gave info on her sighting a few days earlier (Wed 21/11, 8.00am) in vicinity of Skeffington Rd end of Fletcher Rd & near or on Deepdale Mill St on lady's way to work (YT dog running in distressed/lost state, narrowly avoiding being hit by a vehicle). 2ND Main Sighting - as given in my e-mail, was at approx 2.30pm Mon 26/11 in Harewood Rd/Romford Rd area of Deepdale, higher up Skeffington Rd (dog identified, from our poster, by elderly person(s) in flats as having seen the dog running and apparently lost). We then intensified posters for inclusion at more, various public premises in Deepdale (and re-checked with RSPCA at Preston (Ribbleton) & Preston Council DW offices) and through letterboxes in ed parts - still more to do of the latter. While it's possible that Jenny originally could have raced to or along the A59 toward Preston direction on evening of 5Nov / early a.m. 6Nov (and/or have been picked-up in a vehicle going there), it's also possible that the sightings may have been of MOLLY (reported lost by owner earlier - on DL as PR1 area) (however, Molly was lost farther away in PR5 area (specifically Cuerden Park, south of Bamber Bridge urna area per conversation with her owner pm 1 Dec) or may have been a different YT altogether - but there does appear to have been (still is?) one out there. Jaspbenswood - HOAX(ES) etc - your Q of 28/11 - it's not a good idea for us to identify the pub (Hoax/Nuisance/Maliscious caller no.2, my post of 22/11). We assume the particular pub as that mentioned by caller (a B'burn pub away from town centre, and one of some that I'd got 1 or 2 posters in at the week-end just before), and that presumably the call was made to us from inside or outside that pub. As indicated, we have the Heavy Breather caller's Mobile Number but we decided so far not to inform the Police of this 'incident' or take it further. We would not want, somehow the caller (nor his nastier sounding male friend (not female as previously given)) to be able to get back at us. The latter person had included something like "You're not having it back" as well as the hundred quid remark. NUISANCE CALL number 3: subsequently we got one on Fri 23/11, this time to me just before midnight - from a Burnley time-waster idiot who'd got our number from repeated ad from Lancs Telegraph in what was following week's freely-distributed "Citizen" paper (allegedly a friend of his had somehow transferred a dog, which could well be a YT (ie probably ours), to him & his girl-friend - and I could go then to the address he gave). Not likely! What I did do is go, accompanied, the following morning in daylight, arriving after the arranged time slot for visit. Prior to that I had done a "reccy" (in the early hours) of the Burnley address given and the apparently too-affluent looking terraced property, coupled with odd remarks/questions during the tel call, caused me no surprise in the morning to find the person at the address knew nothing about any dog (other than having sold his own of a different breed a month before). I'm not excluding the possibility that we may get more of similar, or other types of Hoax/Nuisance time-wasters - possibility of higher incidence in East Lancs?! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Somewhat frustrated as I've spent several/many minutes given an UPDATE of relevant events/activities/potential sightings - incl'g resposes to JAYNE & JASPBENSWOOD (of 29-28/11) - only to find all gone - apparently because of blip in server connection! May try again tomorrow in between things. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Many thanks from Alan in BB1 for helpers (A&M = Jenny's owners).....PS: another crank/yob tel call in - to M, late afternoon Tue 20/11 live - - a 'heavy breather' apparently a result from our poster recently placed in further pubs at the week-end. 1471 gave Mobile number to call when asked did he phone, male answered loudly "I've (or We've?) got your dog". Where? "In ......" (name of a postered B'burn pub). Female voice off: "Tell 'em they can 'ave it for 'undred quid". He hung up, having dipped briefly into our scene. Quest for Jenny continues.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Jaspbenswood - our short answer to your Q (private message 19/11) is Yes please. Earlier this morning I attempted to reply but after completing it found I needed to log-in again - so I'm assuming my message not transmitted. Before your Clitheroe visit, is it possible please to 'phone us - today? Thanks. Alan Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks also from us to Spike's owner (I've seen the posts of 16th & 17th this evening). Which is Spike? (I've not identified him in the Lost list details & is there a photo?). Jaspenswood - BEN I believe may be available/read also to north of Bolton (south end of Blackburn-with-Darwen boro' - eg in Belmont village and at Edgworth (North Turton)), but not in Blackburn itself. Daily sub-regional 'evening' (or rather afternoon) newspaper here is the Lancashire Telegraph (based in B'burn & available/read mainly in East Lancs (incl'g Burnley, Nelson, Colne). As part of our Jenny quest, we placed an ad in LT for 3 days in last 2 weeks and similarly in Lancashire Evening Post (daily paper also available/read in west parts of B'burn) - the LEP predominates in Preston & N Lancs. Then, for Thu 15 Nov, we had an ad in the weekly Clitheroe Advertiser & Times (available/read in Ribble Valley incl'g Longridge town and around RV/B'burn boundary) - but no response at all from that one. As mentioned in my posting to 'Molly' site (PR1 area) this evening, for Jenny we've been getting more of own posters (also incl'g the photo) in pubs & newsagents over this weekend just gone (both at east side of Preston (along gateway from A59) and more into nearest parts of B'burn) + at add'l police stn(s) elsewhere earlier in week. Am trying for further mention(s) by Radio Lancashire for next week. Keelah - we saw your 15Nov message and Maureen should be contacting you to discuss. A lady PC at Clitheroe police stn made a similar suggestion in this last week. Spotted in other DogLost lost update(s) mention of recent inclusion of DL piece, and sample current dogs lost details/photos, in the Daily Telgraph (but haven't seen the DT for actual article/news item). Are DogLost looking to have similar, on future occasions, in other national n/papers? ASLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Spikes owner, if owners with dogs missing in the same areas can team up with each other it will really help in your searches. Good luck and hope to see them in the blue soon. Jan xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Correction necessary to my v.recent update (due to tiredness!). In 2nd half there's mention twice of 12 Nov - for both instances that of course should have read (Tue) 13 Nov. AlanSLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thanks Sharon for your best wishes. Obviously we hope that your & Simon's and others' extensive & painstaking efforts produce the good result you're pursuing. Maureen is finding similar experiences as you have at dog rescue centres. However, unexpectedly one 'phoned us with case of bedraggled & lean/hungry YT arrival - on checking we confirmed that it's not Jenny. Incidentally, from Sun a.m. 11 Nov our own poster includes fairly recent/typical photo of Jenny. Home Computer printer, and esp. colour inks cartridge(s), taking a bashing! Posters out so far especially in pubs, newsagents, supermarkets and some petrol filling stns and also with some DWs so far and Police stns + at Vets (we need to extend coverage of latter) and some (so far) public libraries and at B'burn main Royal Mail depot (inside) for awareness of all postmen/women for all delivery areas, I'll go back with 1 for public enquiries counter area - need to visit latter RM depot / sorting office also for Preston at least. Doglost - copy of photo (and composite poster) e-mailed Sun 11/11 early pm and Tue 13/11 pm to Doglost Admin - hopefully photo will now go on this account (problems up to now). In meantime also been advertising in local press again - in 1st few days of this week. We suspect that one of these ads (or a poster) has produced this bizarre /sick /etc tel message left on our answering machine this last afternoon - Tue 12 Nov (while I was away at work and M was busy delivering posters): "Yea, I'm just ringing up, it's about your dog - I found some Yorkshire Terrier fur at side of a bonfire yesterday. I think it's your dog. I'm sorry" This is a chilling communication to receive. Unfortunately our answering m/c had at least one other call after that - if it had been the last call, 1471 should have given us the caller's number to refer to Police (but perhaps he may have withheld it?). The caller's voice does not appear all that young. And presumLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Her back, sides & full-length tail are more blue-ish / dark grey, with light tan face & legs. Age 5 and a half yrs. Normally she is exuberant and lively and very friendly with people (esp. those known to her or any visitors/callers new to her). Keen to jump into vehicles, given the chance. Appears aggressive and unsociable near other dogs but it is all 'bark'. Ran off in darkness to front of house and nearby B6245 (Ribchester Road) at approx 6.30pm on Mon 5 Nov - caused by unfortunate, one-off circumstances of being let out just before unforeseen start of neighbour's loud fireworks. Searches on foot and by car made along Ribchester Road to the A59 (incl'g L in direction ultimately of M6 j31 & ahead for Preston) and down/up Lovely Hall Lane (off Ribchester Rd, also to A59). Other firecrackers/rockets also then evident (continuing for some little time) from behind some other properties along Ribchester Road, and in the farther distance. Police notified. Wider areas of farmland tracks walked over subsequent days, in some inclement weather. Local vets, DWs of this and nearby local authorities, and Rescue Centres initially contacted. Ads in both Lancs. Telegraph & Lancs Evening Post from Thu 8 Nov. In meantime, 'action line' annoucements by Radio Lancashire. Sat 10 Nov - owner's A4 Word doc Flyer/poster delivered / placed in village hall, local country pub, and other pubs, newsagents, petrol stns nearby or farther into Blackburn or on way to Preston. Photo located but not yet scanned. AS Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
