Not much sensitivity on the vet's part, but at least little Max is at peace now. What a wonderful long life he had!

Bless you all x x

Thank you Bobble for update. Please let us know how your dad gets on at vets. I will be calling in myself tomorrow as I called them Saturday morning! Girl said there were no dogs listed as brought in stray!r! I'm guessing when max was brought in they didn't log under stray because of outcome. You would of thought they would check missing register,! I will text you only info I have on lady who took call which, isn't much....Last edited: 2017-03-19 09:33:46 by Shelagh

Thank you Bobbie. Max must have had a wonderful life with your father.
I think little Max has touched a lot of hearts xx

Hi everyone, please don't be sad, Max was my fathers dog. Due to his age he presented frail looking, he had lumps and bumps all over him, we was used to the sight of him but to anyone that found him they probably thought he was in bad health. He was getting worse at home and there had been conversations regarding ptd, when he was found he was obviously totally confused and the vets thought it the best decision. They are relieved he was found and respect the decision of the vets. I do however agree that they could of possibly checked the site before making the decision however they are the experts and I believe they thought he was suffering at that moment in time. My dad will visit the vets tomorrow for more details.
Thanks again for all your help and love x

So sad, and I suspect the vets broke the law....even as a vet they need to contact the dogwarden?
ClaireC
How very sad. Relieved that the owners do have closure and he wasn't knocked over by a car as so many do when they have got older and have so many health problems. Run free little one forever in the sunshine xx
Shelagh

Shelagh
I contacted Oak hill this morning at 9, girl I spoke to said no dogs were in register as being brought in! She took brief description and my phone number.... I never received call!!!!!

Totally agree Joanne..if the vets had just checked this site they would have found max easily and his family could have been with him. RIP max x x

I feel so sorry for the family - incredulous that a vet can see a dog who is so obviously a beloved family pet - with his family sure to be looking for him - and take the decision to put him to sleep? What is wrong with these people? Couldn't they have at least made him comfortable for a day, and give the family a chance to find him? Really disappointed by actions of Oak Hill Vets and hope that if any of my dogs run away on a walk they are never taken there. RIP Max X

I was sorry to read this - I was out looking for him this afternoon - I'm glad you know now what happened to him.
Bobble
Thankyou all for your support we couldn't of done it without your help Doglost. It was the best decision for him although one that was extremely hard to hear. He was part of a family for 19 and a half years and lived a good life. Goodnight Max xx

Hopefully a positive update. Posters were put through the doors this afternoon, a kind lady rang up and said she had seen Max was in the road surrounded by three cars, she believes he hadn't been hit, they were all talking so hopefully one of them has taken him home or to the dog warden, as they are not really contactable at the
weekend we hope we will receive a call on Monday morning. Thanks everyone for your kind words. We will update you all as soon as we know more. X

we have also made reports to all local vets and pet hospitals plus battersea

Shelagh and myself have been all over the likely area for three hours today. .. given out lots of cards and talked to many dog owners and volunteers who are clearing up around the lake.. nobody has seen max around.. we have researched all the gardens and park.. lakes etc our best bet is someone has picked him up and keeping until they get warden on monday
Bobble
He is so old now he doesn't go for a walk, he is unable to get far even in the house. We hope he's been picked up by someone and we will get him back soon x
Bobble
The lake end. There's been 5 people out looking with no luck so far x
nicolapicola
Which bit of The Charter Road was he lost from (top, middle bottom??) and where does he usually go for a walk??
Mary
Was Max near home and have you left something with his scent on where you last saw him?
Bobble
Thankyou everyone we have looked everywhere and put posters up. I do hope we find him it's so hard as he is so old. We really appreciate all your help x
nicolapicola
The friend I'm lunching with lives practically on the lake so will poster around there (if someone hasn't already) and head back via The Charter Road to home.

Admin: Suggest you also email E4 (where I am) as we are very close to this area and I often walk my dog close to there. Am going to a lunch date at Highams Park today and walking back to Chingford through forest so will keep an eye out but hope very much that others have located this dear old boy and he is safe before then.
