Have now had speedy reply from Gumtree lady. All is made clear. She did lose her 14 year old parrot and she thinks it is probably deceased bynow. In another part of Lanarkshire a much younger parrot was found and the SSPCA (who had been notified about her lost parrot) contacted her to see if it was hers. It isn't but she has been given it to look after while they wait to see if they can find its owner. This is why she placed adverts re both birds on Gumtree herself. She did register both birds with a member of Birdline but they haven't put it on their Lost and Found list for some reason. Meantime lots of people have tried to claim it fraudulently.
nicolapicola
Well, I received a reply to my email to the "finder" of the Lanarkshire African Grey who (very very strangely) says she posted both Gumtree ads, i.e, one about the lost African Grey ("very much missed") in Lanarkshire and the one about the found African Grey in same area herself. Here is what she told me: "You will need to contact Birdline as I registered both birds with them. If yours we are much enjoying taking care of her/him and it is very much at home here. To re unite bird with owner ring number must be confirmed with Birdline. Sorry but too many have tried to claim ownership." I cannot understand how she can be a loser and a finder of two different parrots in the same area around the same time and have asked her to explain. Also, I am actually a member of Birdline and neither bird is posted on their lost and found list. Its all beginning to sound more than a bit weird. Either way, I don't think either is the one on this doglost thread.

nicolapicola. Thanks for your reply. I have posted another 2 since. The one this morning I have emailed details to to John. Reading the comments on the finders OP I am a bit concerned the parrot may be sold as opposed to reunited.
nicolapicola
Sorry, Molliemoo, I haven't looked at this page since I emailed John Hayward. I haven't heard anything and lost parrot in Lanarkshire is still showing as lost on the register but I've just searched and seen an ad for the "found" Lanarkshire parrot on Gumtree put on about the same time as the "missing" one same area and I've emailed poster there to see if they were the same bird. I'll post again if I get a reply so we can at least eliminate that one. Would be nice if the owner could let us know if he has found his stolen bird yet or not.

No one seems to be responding to birds found. Another one found https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10212364224371436&set=a.1565643351732.2076794.1554849940&type=3&theater

nicolapicola....any news as to whether the found parrot is the missing one from Lanarkshire

Thanks Nicolapicola, I have sent to owner to check he has received info & the other advice that people have offered x
nicolapicola
BTW if owner is reading this blog - I don't see your parrot reported on the Parrots Lost & Found Register UK as per my previous post 11/01/17 at 1500. As you can see from these last few posts, if your parrot turns up then finder (who may not read Doglost but may well look at the Parrot Register) will know how to get in contact with you.
Molliemoo
nicolapicola....I did think it unlikely but stranger things have happened. Lets hope this found birds finds it rightful owner.
nicolapicola
Well spotted Molliemoo - I don't think this is this particular missing bird but I've looked on the National Lost and Found Parrot Register and there is one missing from Lanarkshire since 24/12/16 so I have emailed John Hayward to give him the information you've provided. You might have reunited a different bird - I'll let you know if I hear further.

Thank you

Good thing you found your one, Hollieberry, - mine flew off in a fright a month or two ago, into the kitchen and then vanished - I thought for about 10 mins that he had fallen behind some tall cupboards and was keeping quiet - eventually (after much acrobatics to try to see behind the cupboards) he turned up in another room altogether! He decided not to announce his whereabouts for about 25 mins even though I'd been walking in and out of all rooms calling him. Fingers very much crossed for this poor missing parrot.
Hollieberry
Just a thought the owner needs to search the house from top to bottom & carefully move furniture away from the walls to see if the parrot is stuck. T his happened to one of my parrots when he was scared by a delivery man, he was sat on he cage when I answered the door & he was nowhere to be seen when I came back.I eventually found him stick tight down the back of a tall corner unit & as with most things when trapped he dident make a sound .
Unknown
Apparently it is also a good idaa to get a recording of another parrot if possible This may help locate the Parrot I actually read this in a book once about missing Parrots. Claws xd.

Has the owner put the parrot cage outside with some food in it and the door open?

Baydogs that was a question I was about to ask then I saw you had beat me to it. It would be a very brave or stupid person to try & grab a parrot .Fingers crossed this bird will be found safe I hope not dumped.

Although the dogs have been reunited this parrot is still missing I am curious to know how it was transported...in it's cage, in a bag, in a box.... More information could help.
