Hi, we were communicating so long ago now about our missing children - what are we to do? both families lost and hopeless. it/ the grief doesn't go away, does it; how can it have happened? how ,when we both have done so much, can we have no information? I have quite a few times looked at Gunner's page because he went missing soon after our Sian - its all so incomprehensible, the stuff of nightmares. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gunner's pictures can be viewed on his album on Bishop's FaceBook website with, I think, a print-friendly version of his new poster. If you Google for 'gunner missing' or 'missing inuit' you should find Doglost and Gunner's page comes up top of the list. Brill! ChristoXLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gunner's Family, You are all doing a brilliant job in your search for Gunner. It may be a long shot, but a poster of Gunner and Bishop are now in a plastic folder at my local vets surgery on a table for clients to peruse, (TA8 Somerset). People do travel and hopefully anything that we can do to bring these boys home has to be worh a try. Gunner and Bishop's mini posters will also be sent in with my Xmas cards this year, from Penzance to Buxton in Derbyshire. I do hope that Gunner will soon be home. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou Nicky, its great to know people are still looking. Have had no news at all for a while now so think bear has been taken out of this area now. But of course I could be completely wrong! You never know, he could be hold up in a remote cottage with a very lovely old lady that doesn't read newspapers or have a TV.!! We have to keep going. I am sending out copies of Gunners poster and Bishops with a press release written by Gilly (Bishops mum) to all the story magazines and any others that might print their stories. Big hopes that something will come from this.... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

New Gunner poster taken to vets today in TA8. Comments were made about how distinctive he is, (a beautiful boy). I asked if every new dog to the practise is routinely scanned and was told YES. (I knew that we had a good vet), he had previously scanned our dog, without being asked to do so, but I still thought that I would ask the question. Stay safe Gunner the net is closing in. Thankyou Christo, I totally agree, there is no point in waiting any longer. Whether they are still in the South West or further afield, we need to spread out further. Gunner has been in the WMN for 9 days now and not a single call, which tells me he is being hidden or is out of the West Country. Bishop has had many sightings, but none confirmed as definately him. time to take on the big boys!! We can't give up on them now. They are both distinctive dogs. Somebody, somewhere, must know something!!!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I think that we must try right now to get our dogs (Gunner and Bishop) as much exposure as we can. Gunner and Bishop, both missing for about 2 months, just at a time when people are in the south west on holiday and on day trips. Both dogs went off with their respective canine friends but only one of each pair returned. Both owners are desperate for their return. We can't leave it any longer and let it become an old story which no one relates to. We have been searching in our local areas fanactically, but if they've been taken off somewhere we really need to know. There are dozens of dog owners walking their dogs everywhere I go, and I have been out and about at every oportunity in the past two months. To my surprise, everyone - but everyone - I talk to is sympathetic, concerned and understanding of our plight. Go for it!Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Because of the Motorway, and now improved A30, Newquay is "do-able" for a day trip. We have done this a few times. Next week we have a friend from Newquay, coming up to stay for a few days, so will make sure that she is aware of Gunner, and has a couple of posters to take back to Trencreek/Newquay. Unless of course (I pray) that the beautifull Gunner is safely back home with you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Much appreciated Millie's mum, you never know, anything is possible. In fact I would have thought that whoever picked Gunner up would be more of a day tripper that the two week holiday type, as he is such a big dog would be a bit of a squeeze with a loads of luggage and possibly children in the car. (Maybe more of a weekender, I suppose Somerset is a bit far for a day trip?) Thankyou for your support. xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gunners family, as well as searching for our local dogs, we are also looking for your boy here in Somerset, on the coast we get lots of tourists from all counties. So we keep looking. He is so beautiful, he will certainly get attention when he is able to show himself. Also lots of "Bishop" type collie dogs in Somerset. Hope they are both soon reunited. Nik, that would be fine if we'd had local sightings of Gunner, but we haven't, and that's the big difference between Gunner and Bishop. Any publicity for both dogs would be so helpful - for Gunner, because we're desperate for sightings, and for Bishop, because as far as I know no sightings for him are 100% positive, and Devon and Cornwall are inundated with black and white collie types.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

VERY kind Glynafon from DogLost has said she will email all the vets in Devon and Cornwall about Gunner and Bishop. Both dogs? posters are now updated and ready to go. Both dogs? stories are similar: one disappeared from a beach in Cornwall, the other from a beach in Devon, both at the height of the tourist season, and there have been no confirmed sightings of either of them since. Both dogs are microchipped, so are readily identifiable if taken to a vet, and rural vets are themselves out and about a lot of the time visiting farms and noticing animals. Thank you SO much, Glynafon. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a phone call today of a possible sighting in St. Austell. The dog was running down the middle of the road yesterday morning, apparently a workman on a building sight caught him off the road and took him onto the building sight. We went to the site, most of the men were working on huge machines and the one guy we spoke to new nothing about it. We then went to the council offices and asked to speak to the dog warden but he is unavailable after 4pm. We then went to the police station who were very helpful but no reported dogs to them.. Will phone dog warden tommorrow. Gunner is in the western morning news from friday for 12 days. . Thanks to sians mum for her lovely message. Fingers crossed for them both..Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Gunner, we're still looking for you, and postering, and trying to get more media coverage and a mention again on the radio, so please help us and give us another sighting! Little Max especially wants you home. I'm away now until late wednesday next week (3 Oct), and really hope by the time I'm back in Cornwall that you'll have been spotted again. Went out with dillondog today nd postered chasewaterand scorrier, also sorting office at truro which coverswide area, hopefully posties will take it seriously. Going to speak to Cambourne police tommorrow and ask to speak to their liason officer for traveller sites, as suggested by dillondog, after speaking to lady at shop in chasewater, there is a camp there and asked if they were approachable, she said probably better if she spoke to them when they came into the shop. Just another avenue to try, anything is worth a try. Big thanks to dillondog for all her support, keeps me going....Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Have been into Truo town centre today. Spoke to a man who stands outside M & S selling paper from the homeless, he was really helpful, took a large poster and said he would put it up the homeless shelter. He had two dogs with him (one was white with similar markings to Gunner. but was a collie) and told me that his collie had been stolen a while back by Gipsys in Redruth. , he obviously managed to get him back but said quite often travellers etc will pick up any dog and keep it or sell it on. This guy seemed a very genuine chap and is the area co-ordinator for the homeless in this area, and seemed keen to help. You never know! Also handed out posters to locals, one of whom works in a kennels in scorrier. More postering further afield ongoing... Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Had a chat with dillondog just now and suggested getting posters to bus companies and mobile libraries. I'd like to add taxi firms as well. We know from the latest sighting that Gunner is out and about at night as well as day. This is a big, distinctive and easily visible dog who is going to cover a lot of ground very fast if he decides to keep running, so publicise far and wide among any groups of people who are out and about in the countryside. Get posters to the Royal Mail sorting offices, bakers and mobile shops, farm stores, and especially milk tanker depots cos those guys are out every day and have a great view. And poster the tourist offices as it is still holiday season for all the walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers and people who like to explore the countryside after high season is over.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Dillondog, I have also emailed you scenting instructions, as owners will probably need them when Gunner slows down. When you get sightings around the same area, plot them on an ordnance survey map to see the route he is travelling on. Owners may then be able to set up a safe area, and do the scenting. High there. You are doing really well here. I may be trying to teach you to suck eggs, but if he seems to be on the move, and you know which direction he 's heading, try to get in front of him with the posters, and hopefully sightings will come in as he shows up there. Is this still TR8 you are working in, or do you need another poster mail out? Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Went out postering again today, covered some more of the remote country lanes in Ladock area, also Trisilian, Probus and out towards St. Maws. A lady we met suggested that the direction he was going when seen could lead him on the Roselands, which is a again a vast area of country and farm land. If he was trying to get home he may end up heading for St. Maws as he would smell the sea and think he was near home. I have also put him on Radio Cornwall again with above info...Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou for everyones best wishes. Went to Ladock woods again yesterday with dillondog. We had a good treck round (got lost for a while too) no sign though. we then put more posters up and ped into letter boxes. stopped at most of the farms in the area, people where very friendly and keen to help which was great. I then met up with the lady who saw what we hope was Gunner. I showed her more pictures and she was certain it was him. she was a very down to earth girl who knows her dogs so I'm confident she new what she saw. It was a different road to the one first thought but still in that village area, although the countryside round there is vast and it would be quite possible for him to move around at night and not be seen. Dropped into the houses in that road and again, everyone is keep to help find him. Going out again tonight to poster in the diretion he was heading. Fingers crossed.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Reposted with Sarah's mobile number removed. Will Pm it to relevant people and have kept a record of it. christo @ 12:54 - 5/9/2007 IP = 212.188.207.233 Hi Gunners family - we are in Devon near Modbury and missing our big, black and white collie cross called Bishop. It's the vaguest chance I know but someone did get in touch saying that they thought they had seen Bish in Perranporth. In spite of Bish being mainly black, with short hair we have been on lots of wild goose chases looking at small collies, long haired collies and even little brown dogs so I just wondered if people might possible mistake Bishop for Gunner? The lady who rang is called Sarah and her phone number is (phone number d and PMd to Gunner's family). Keep in touch! Cheers Christo.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Thankyou Hannah, We had a call from a lady in Bollingy,Nr Perranporth, of an inuit type dog which has been around the village loose for several weeks. The dog had gone by the time we got there and we showed Gunners poster to several people. Two of them thought that it definately wasn't him but another lady thought it quite possibly was. Considering he would have lost a lot of weight and probably be pretty dirty, he could look quite different from his poster. We live in hope! Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Gunner well. Stay safe Gunner, and we will find you x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
