hi sorry sniper is still missing ,have you contacted the advertiser in oswestry ? as this covers a wide range of oswestry and lots of the areas around .there are lots of people who don't normaly buy the shropshire star but buy this as its more about news in and around oswestry and the small areas around, i saw a man walking a dog smiler to sniper last week in park hall area of whittington, along the main road, but thought at the time the dog looked a bit young but if a poss sighting in st martins with is only up the road and looking at his pic again am now not so sure, have not seen this person before or again since but will keep doing a tour of the area to keep an eye out have all so asked freinds who live in this area to be on the look out. sorry i didn't get back sooner but lifes been a bit hectiic at the mo, will be more alert now stay safe till home sniper xxxxxxxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I agree about some form of compulsory licence or passport - after all all horses have to have them and honest people would not buy a car without a V5 would they? Linked to the chip, as they are with racehorses, then all puppies would get a health check from a vet + chip as a matter of course - so added benefit of healthier dogs.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Good luck with the tv interview. Corbiere, I agree about dog licenses. No-one should be able to sell a dog without a license. The scheme could be administered by dog wardens perhaps, so creating more jobs in animal care.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Hi Kenny just spoke to Lynne who told the terrible news, poor sniper. On the look out down here and you are on the best place to help find Sniper. Do you have Police community Support Officers (PCSo's) safer neighbourhood teams up your way? If you look on net you can find their email address's and email them a poster especially blitz areas where possible sightings have been. Good luck and stay strong. All the best Nikki .ps me + my dogs will visit one day. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Yet another stolen dog... Really is time to lobby MPs for the return of the DOG LICENSE and for COMPULSORY CHIPS. The angle which would get this somewhere, is the immense and ever increasing amount of Police and Council time taken up with the problem. If people couldn't sell a dog without its license it would knock so much of this on the head - charities or dispensation for pensioners could be factored in. Hope poor Sniper is found soon Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sniper was in the Shropshire Star on the 2nd November, i missed it somehow, and its too far back on their website, snipers owner is going to try and get a copy, spoken to Denbighshire Free Press, big article on stolen cats and dogs covering most of front page, its not up on the website yet, but will put up a link as soon as it is up, the paper says its covering 4 or 5 dogs missing from that area, along with some cats missingLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

ok I will plaster Brymbo again, but could do with someone else doing it too as dont have PC at home at present. There is, apparently a dog who looks like Sniper living in the pub at Llanarmon which is quite nr Oswestry/st martins, so that one could be mistaken identity? however, the canal runs from Llan to St martins, so dog walkers could poster the canal if poss as there is a huge tourist thing in narrowboats in that area. Brymbo is now a huge village. Any helpers moved into the new houses there?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Two possible sightings of Sniper, one at the Golf Course Nr.St.Martins, and another at Brynbo, owner went to both locations but without luck, i will chase up the other two newspapers tommorow and see when they are running something.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

a large proportion of the boy racers in Llan and rhos/penycae now sporting posters. Thanks guys if you log on! Press release looks excellent. More posters going to shows over the weekend, and scruffy has arranged some for Llandegla. On the downside I had to report Sniper missing again because the dogwarden couldnt find the record-pillocks! Some pounds will be displaying poster too. On the upside Wrexham and Denbs have definately NOT had a collie of any description on their roadkill lists recently.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

It is now almost certain Sniper is stolen as another dog was taken the next day. Please, can any local helpers-or even not so local print off a poster and display it in the car. If there have been any new travellers in the vicinity please post here. If you are going to a game fair or dog show, moto x event or horse show, steam rally etc. this weekend PLEASE display at least one poster (especially if you have a stall there). Llangollen is a busy tourist town on the A5, so Sniper could literally be anywhere. If every dog person you know is given a poster and asked to do the same we would all only need to do about 3 posters each! A banner is going up on the A5 today, a national Skip hire firm has agreed to display a poster, and the owner is working on the local papers, but needs help and advice as I havent got the experience to charm the papers in the way we need. My son's paper round customers are getting a flyer about now! If anyone knows how to make a load of little handout sized posters I can put on cars please post here or put a personal message.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

the dog at valgrays is not sniper :-( he is tan and merle. Val will e mail her Irish contacts and charm the ferry terminal into putting sniper's poster up. Apparently they have done it before. poster up in hydrotherapy pool llanarmon yn ial, wrexham hospital and jobcentre staff notice boards, llangollen cafe right on top of the garth plus in my car. Suggest local helpers put poster in their car as it is more noticable than lamp posts in semi rural areas. will put a poster at wrexham dog agility tonight and hand some out for distribution at dog shows at the weekend. No trace at Wrexham holding kennel, Wrexham Rhyd Broughton vet or Capricorn Animal rescue. they will keep looking and i'll ring them in a day or two. Owner has rung wrexham and llan police, llan and cefn vet, n clwyd + nantyr rescues, ruthin (denbighshire) dog warden, and has posted on animal search.co.uk. also oakwood vet in oswestry and wrexham dog warden. He is sweeping these people again tonight. Please if anyone can think of anything missed off above list could you ring them and report back? I will ask the canine hydrotherapy pool in Llanarmon yn ial to display a poster, and also Wrexham dog agility club. I will also e mail as many of my agility contacts as I can. message for Doglost admin. This dog is very distinctive, a puppy farmer's dream, and a fashionable (if accidental!) designer dog type, and the owners live right on the main A5. Is there any chance helpers in mid and west wales, plus helpers on anglesey and maybe ireland could be e mailled this poster? Often it would not be worth doing this, but as the dog is so very distinctive I think it may be worth it. I would bet my mortgage his progeny will be showing up in 9 weeks or so. Owner has rung the ferry at Holyhead, but they don't count animals on and off. Someone in the area could put posters up though. owner is absolutely heartbroken as dog goes everywhere with him and is a real family character.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Sniper well. Stay safe sniper, until we find you xLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
