Well done to all involved! So pleased to see Violet is home x
DogLostSharon - Social Media Volunteer
Great news.
Welcome home Violette. x
Bo
NickyB - I'm really fond of the Rommies and in general they've survived so much by the time they get their paws into a loving home. I can take no credit for Violets safe return but I appreciate the sentiment - xx
DogLostBobble - Area Co-ordinator - Somerset & East Sussex
Well done to team Violette.
NickyB
well done to Bo and the team with another fab reunited story. specially difficult with these terrified street dogs from abroad who fear all humans due to their awful lives back home.
MissYorky

Reunited photo now on may need to refresh.
ClaireC
Well done Team Violette. Yes totally agree with Jenny, please use 2 leads. Any rescue dog is going to be wary of new sights, sounds, experiences and people. Stay safe and close Violette. X
Unknown
Well done all who helped reunite her,Can you recommend to the owner she uses a harness and collar with 2 separate leads so if she slips out of one there is another to contain her,Welcome home gorgeous Girl.Stay safe xxx
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
So pleased! Well done Team Violette. Thank goodness she is safe. X
Bo
From Facebook "Maria-Louise Oxley Mary and violet are now back home she is surprisingly in good health considering her adventure. It's been one hell of a rollacoater and this little girl has captured so many hearts!!
We camped out last night at Reighton and violet was coming right up to us and following us. We went back again tonight to camp out but we managed to get her in the cage to trap her which was heartbreaking but the only way.
Thank you all so much for all your help and support even though Violet wasn't our dog and we didn't even know Mary the owner but we have got a close bond and have fallen in love with violet. We are keeping in touch and hopefully once violet is trained and settled we are going dog walking.
We can now all finally have a good night's sleep knowing violet is warm and safe.
We said we would never give up and we didn't!!! "

I've sent Gillian a reunited photo to upload.
Bo
Welcome home little girl - have a lovely life ❤️

Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
I have no idea on how they are doing things only that traps are being checked every 2 hours! And another appeal this morning for more traps!
ClaireC
Out of curiosity are they leaving a food trail to one of them? Purely my thoughts that if you have more traps in place then you need people monitoring them constantly because of wildlife! I thought the rspca were involved.Last edited: 2016-10-07 07:31:34 by ClaireC
Ninja - Area Volunteer, Lincolnshire
There is an appeal on fb asking for more traps?
It says they have 2 already placed but as it's a big area they need more!
rooney
update violette has not been caught yet.. sightings of her every day but no success with a trap as yet
JEAN
Any update on Violette please x
Jane

Hoping for good news soon x
ClaireC
Pleased the rspca are involved. Really hoping they will be successful.
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
Thank goodness. Hoping she will be safely caught soon
rooney
thankfully violette has been seen inland last night... rspca will be setting a trap when her whereabouts can be established posters are being put up in villages around filey where she was seen last night
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
Trap has been offered by Pendle Dogs in Need. Coastguards are standing by, and local mountain rescue team are aware. This is one to be left for the experts as not one for too many folk to go rushing in. At present there have been no more sightings.
jenjanjo
There are loads of places for her to hide along the coastal path to the rear of the Country Park in woodland, as the Brigg is more open.
DogLostCJ - Police Liaison & SE Regional Coordinator
If timid dog i would suggest few try to approach but start a safe area to leave food.If been loose for 6 days this might tempt her to go to food then if a trap is available can then put food into trap. She needs to know this is a safe place to get food and might take a few days to even get her to start to trust and fed.
rooney
jenjanjo thanks for your concern at the moment things are in hand to try and help violette i think its best at the moment if all is left to her owners to deal with things and like you jenjanjo i will be ready to help out if needed thanks all for your help
jenjanjo
Have spoken to the owner Rooney but she wasn't able to tell me what area she was last seen in. Have walked up and down the cliff path with binoculars but no sign. Don't worry.. We know these cliffs are dangerous and won't put ourselves at risk! There is no phone signal on the Brigg so have come home (only 10 mins walk).. I am available all day today if I am needed.. It's low tide at 12.11
rooney
jenjanjo please do not put your self at risk please contact the owner on 07810844575 to see if she needs help the brigg is so dangerous as you will know
Bo
A woman called Alison seems to be in contact with owner and have offered a trap. Update was on https://www.facebook.com/groups/1717501528479137/ref=ts&fref=ts
She (the lovely little dog) hasn't been seen since Friday apparently.
jenjanjo
There is no one up here, not sure what area of the Brigg she was seen and the tide is in so very difficult to access anywhere unless we have more precise details. Was she actually stuck?

Apparently the coastguard have said that they are aware & that under no circumstances should anyone try & get there
rooney
hi thanks so much Pendle dogs in need for offer of a trap ...jenjanjo please ring owner with your offer of help thankyou...i think today maybe a drone will be checking the cliffs to see if she is now stuck on a area she cant get from as she hasnt been seen if she is stuck rspca and life boat will have to try and help her....so worrying will keep you updated
jenjanjo
We are on our way up now.. Car park is quite a way from where she will be..
Shelagh
If area is accessible by car, have fosterers,/ owners tried just parking close by with engine running/ door, boot open. That often works for Rescue dogs
jenjanjo
Hi, we live in Filey, willing to help if anything we can do 07450907643
DogLostNina
I googled and got abseiluk.com Not sure if they could help with any local clubs

Ray is on another job!
Bo
Thanks Paula - star you are xx
Pendle Dogs in Need
We have a trap we are happy to lend out, but we are a couple of hrs away and it will need collecting.
Bo
If a trap is needed the lovely Paula from the rescue Pendle dogs in need has one that can be collected and used and then returned please. Do let me know if you want to borrow it and I'll put you in contact - you'll need someone experienced to show how to use it for the best result as I've no idea but many folk here do. Ray dedicoat is experienced trapper, has anybody called him?
DogLostOwl
Coastguards have been out but can't get near her because she runs away from everyone. She is on a ledge which would be dangerous for inexperienced people. Updates are on Yorkshire Dogs Lost and Found facebook page.
Hollieberry
Would the RSPCA Scarborough branch have a trap they are close to Filey ?
rooney
todays update from owners son on face book... is still no sightings today the fosters from her foster home she was in have been over to filey walking around area calling her... rspca may be offering more help so see what tomorrow brings
Sharon
Sorry my mistake, Max was 100864
Sharon
I think it might have been Eve Fullard and Trevor Dixon who were involved with Sweetpea. I think they were also more recently involved in catching Max the border collie (100868) who went missing in Gateshead and which they caught in trap. Max had a facebook page which they were on think it's now called Max Is Home !!!
Bo
From desperately seeking Audrey's FB page (she was a rommie that ran away twice in the UK and is now safe and in a sanctuary )
TRAP UPDATE - .
The Beast is a specialised trap built by a man in Newcastle for difficult to catch dogs - Audrey was caught in a normal trap only 2 weeks ago, so unlikely to go in it again. It was used to catch Sweet Pea last year, a dog that had been on...

So we need to track down that trap - I've messenger the lady who was admin for Audrey's FB page to see if we can get the contact name and number as a Plan B if the Whitby wildlife rescue one isn't available Last edited: 2016-10-01 18:14:47 by Bo
rooney
thank you whitby wildlife rescue may have a fox trap waiting on a reply from them x
DogLostSandra Watt
K9 rescue loan out traps for a 100 pound returnable deposit but I think they are based in Cornwall.
Bo
Rooney - I'm trying to locate one for you - I'll update ASAP
rooney
have been ringing round no luck yet
DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
Rooney could a local rescue help with a trap? I am asking around for anyone in the area who has one too x
rooney
ps the info on harness is wrong on poster she isnt wearing it came off
rooney
thanks for all your reply's she hasnt been seen at all today so very worried we are hoping she has got off the cliffs and some one will soon spot her.. it really is a dog trap needed if anyone knows where we can borrow one from in this area the dog warden only has a net ......i am not the owner and trying to think of ways to help i have past experience of trapping feral cats she is too big for a cat trap anyway just hope she is spotted soon and is ok
Bo
I've dealt with too many terrified rommies - one false move and that dog may leap to its death - not worth the risk IMO. She is moving between the cliffs and fields according to her thread on dogs lost Yorkshire. I was a Qualified abseiling instructor on helicopters and have an idea of what's involved - this is something I would strongly advise against considering the state of the dogs flight risk.
Baydogs
Yes, emergency services are extremely helpful "down here" Seeks. I guess that isn't the same everywhere but as you say, worth asking surely.
Bo, the rescues I have seen using fire crew or absailers, they used more than one person descending at a time so the dog didn't know which way to move and had the lifeboat in the water in case it was needed as well.
Can't comment on the fact this dog has been seen in the fields- I'm reading that she has been stuck on the cliff for six days so assume she hasn't left in that time. Maybe there is further info elsewhere?
Kind offer Seeks x

Bo they are deeply committed to helping dogs over cliffs etc this end. I only know the Cornish coast I am afraid.....

As to how.... I guess like they did in Wales for the ESS? Also the little terrier was got up in a combined cliff rescue and lifeboat operation.

Its always worth asking them IF they can help to me xx

ClaireC I do have one I am looking after.... Shout if you need and I will come up with it xxx
Bo
I'm glad the hardness saved your dogs life NickyB - I still loathe then due to the amount of dogs that slip them and run away. I move roughly 3 rescue dogs a week, many of them Romanian rescues. Collar and lead and slip lead - every time.
ClaireC - the RSPCA usually do have traps so if anyone has any in roads for contacts it may be the quickest option. A friend has one down in Brighton that I can ask for but unless anyone can collect it, it's probably a bit too far away. Let me know.
NickyB
2 things to tell u as my rosie was a lost terrified romanian rescue - her harness saved her life because when eventually after 11 days she was caught her catcher hung on to her harness despite being bitten 6 times until his friend got the crate - they had seen her around for a few days so were prepared. and the other thing is she was collected by dog warden and was in manchester dogs home 11 days, yes 11 days before they scanned her. good luck and look forward to seeing her in the blue
ClaireC
I will email into Admin for ? Local Coord to see if they can locate a trap as yes will be the better option. HAVE ALERTED ADMIN ASSISTANCE.Last edited: 2016-10-01 16:08:36 by ClaireC
Bo
Sarah - how would a lifeboat crew get her? She's at risk on those cliffs and won't go to anyone so an abseiler , a helicopter , anyone climbing down to get her won't help - she will just run for her life. People seem to infer that she's uo and down the cliffs and has been seen on the fields as well. If that's the case then would food and a trap work? Or any dog that she knows and trusts? Person who has fostered her in Uk before adoption? I loathe harnesses for this very reason with these vulnerable dogs. So sad.
Seeks
I think Holleberry's suggestion is good. Down here the inshore bot went out for Tess and I fairly sure Lex.....xx
Bo
Claire - there's no way they'd attempt an air rescue for a dog that's running like this, way too risky for the dog and the person on the rope. She's been running up and down the cliffs so likely a trap the best way forward. Had she come directly from Romania ? Did any dogs she knows come over the same time that she might come to? Can any one locate a trap in that area? As she's small would a cat trap work for her? Humane fox trap?
ClaireC
Anybody in touch with any air sea rescue services in that area? They may possibly be the best people to contact. Maybe the Filey lifeboat would be able to make contact!
Hollieberry
Filey have their own Lifeboat based at the Brigg I understand it is run by volunteers .Is anyone able to contact them
rooney
she is around the back of the Brigg filey it is a stretch of cliffs of the country park in Filey her owners phone number is on the poster thankyou all who are trying to help

Unfamiliar with this coastline so just an off-the-wall suggestion....
Local absailing club?

Or could your local fire crew help? They have been known to help with cliff rescues in other areas.Last edited: 2016-10-01 12:07:23 by Baydogs

DogLostNicky - Area Co-ordinator London, Home Counties & Police Liaison
