It's been a year today and she is still missing :'( Can whoever sees this please share her again? I am still convinced she is out there somewhere. Thanks.
Pippilotta
Pippi is still missing, it's been 9 months now. I have not given up hope and will keep sharing her wherever I can.

I'm sure the farming community hold the key to finding Lottie. Please don't give up: take a look at http://www.doglost.co.uk/dog-blog.php?dogId=108897 as an example of a dog lost in sparsely populated countryside.

It has come to light that the driver of the van found the owners of the dog. So, it was not Pippi. I wait and hope.

Do hope there is news soon.

Driver in white van has been asking people in Douglas today if they know who lost a dog. He had dog in the car, presumably injured (he mentioned: run down), but the lady who reported it saw very little of the dog, just said grey and very scruffy. He was advised to ask at garage and/or shops. I drove to Douglas and enquired at all open shops and the garage, but nobody had come in with or about a lost/injured dog. Most vets in area phoned, also Mauchline Kennels phoned. None of them had stray or injured in during or after the time reported (about 3.30pm). Tried to ring Lanark police twice, no answer. Dog warden off duty.

Has anybody got any more ideas of what I could try ... just in case it's Pippi?
Pippilotta
Thanks, Seeks. I need to reposter the area over the weekend as some of the posters have been taken off and/or blew away in the storms. I still have the feeling she is somewhere in the vicinity, not close enough to find home though. And there are vast areas of woods where she could hide comfortable and not go hungry either.
Seeks
I am sure she is ok Pippilotta. Often the get very scared when they get lost and go to ground. Keep postering all that area my friend.

I far to far to be any real help but will tweet and reshare her as well as try to get some local support for her TC

Hang in there xx
Pippilotta
Seems she has completely disappeared now. It has been 2 weeks today since the last sighting. I have not given up looking for her, but by now she could be anywhere. Miss her so much!
Pippilotta
Still no sighting.
Pippilotta
Pippi is still missing. The last sighting is now 1 week ago at Lanark Race Course. Despite lots of efforts, we have not been able to find her or even see her.
Pippilotta
Still nothing anywhere. Just as update.
Pippilotta
No sighting today, despite a lot of people keeping a look out in Lanark. I searched a different area, also nothing.
Pippilotta
Thanks, Svend. Very kind. Crossing the Clyde is easy, particularly if she already crossed it at the Douglas & Angus estate. Then she really just needed to follow it to get to Lanark. We have put some poster up there already, more tomorrow, and I have given out my phone number to dog walkers on the race course. Went up there tonight when it was quieter, but there was still some football training, so no luck. I am going up before dawn, when it will be completely quiet. Food, worn clothing and pee trail left too.
Svend
Pippilotta, I've put where she disappeared, and the two sightings on a google map, and shared the link with you (check your email)... you can edit and add info as appropriate (have there been additional sightings?). Note: today's sighting would mean she's crossed the Clyde - how easy is that? Keep postering around Lanark, as well as around previous sightings and maybe further afield to "get ahead" of her. The distance from the Douglas roundabout to Lanark Racecourse is not far for a dog, but you need to establish if she's circling back towards Rigside, or heading away.

Be aware that, sooner or later, she will go into "survival mode": see https://nodogaboutit.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/why-your-lost-dog-may-not-run-back-to-you/Last edited: 2016-09-13 23:47:59 by Svend
Pippilotta
Had a reported sighting at 3pm at Lanark Race Course. I got up there around 3.30pm and together with friend we searched, but did not find her. Other dog walkers didn't see her either. The person who reported the sighting was sure it was Pippi.
Pippilotta
Thanks, I will try them.

May be a bit away from you but could try http://www.lostdogtracker.com/

Somebody else than K9Tracker,please, as the lady's dog is recovering from an injury at the moment and cannot work.

Does anyone know of someone with a tracking dog who can help? If so please contact Karina ASAP.Thanks.
Pippilotta
Ok Jayne, I guess you would be contacted by police or vets etc anyway. Thanks.
DogLostJayne - Founder Doglost.
Have removed chip number from public view and stored in appropriate box that downloads it to scanner angel and visible only to co-ordinators.
Pippilotta
By the way, her micro chip # is .........., still chipped to Beli Manistir, Croatia (the shelter where she came from). Seems in this country we cannot read her microchip.
Pippilotta
Searched 2 hours in the area she had been sighted on Saturday, no luck. Spoke to the game keeper there too, he has not seen a dog. Posters up in Douglas Estate and Douglas Coop. Asked a few dog walkers, but nobody has seen a stray. Poster up at Cairn Lodge Services and spoken to personnel there, left them my number. Will go out later again. Please everybody, keep looking. Thanks.
Pippilotta
No, didn't know that Svend. Thank you.
Svend
You probably already know this, but the video on this page is actually quite good: http://www.poochandclaws.com/how-to-catch-a-skittish-or-shy-dog-video/
Pippilotta
We have had a sighting. She was reported seen 10/09/16 around 5pm near roundabout before Douglas. They tried to catch her but she ran off into field near Douglas Estate. I have only just learned this, so going out at first light.

If anyone local sees her, please don't approach, just ring me with location. Thanks.
Pippilotta
Talked to all farmers in the area, no sighting. Nobody had sheep or cattle disturbance. It's like she has vanished off the face of the Earth :'(
Pippilotta
Still missing. No sightings. Went out with search party in the storm last night, but had to give up. Laid a couple more bases this morning and a few yesterday. Will check them again in a while. Please keep looking. She might by now be alot further away, East Ayrshire, the M74 corridor and beyond Happenden Services are all possibilities.
Pippilotta
I will go down to the golf course club house again today. She is still missing, no sighting, it's very worrying. Weather worsening as well. Will go for a drive around now again.
DogLostGeoffA - Area Volunteer - Cornwall, Scotland & Northumberland
Pippilotta - you may have done this already but can you ask the Golf Club to ask staff and members to keep eyes and ears open, especially with the weekend coming up. Are there huts or sheds that Pippi could have inadvertently got shut in - perhaps the greenkeepers could to do a tour and double check.
If you feel Pippi may have gone down a hole, some hose pipe (ideally blue alkathene pipe) plus a funnel makes a good two way listening device - you can either listen with it to your ear or call down it to see if you get a reaction from dog. If you have another dog, the familiar sound of his / her bark may prompt a reaction. If there is loose earth in the hole you will need to blow through it to make sure it is clear, or tape an old pair of tights over the end. Again, Golf Club staff should be able to tell you where such holes might exist.

Yes, more to come tomorrow and spreading them into the wider area too.

You also need lots of posters up
Pippilotta
I have emailed her already.
Pippilotta
That is better than nothing, I am sure she has valuable tips, or maybe knows a dog tracker in this area.
Skywalker99
No problem, however she is based in Kent so I suspect telephone advice will be all she can offer.
Pippilotta
I will contact them. Thank you so much for the link.
Skywalker99
Can anyone give advice on hole finding and how to check for dogs n them? It is probably too far for Jenny to travel, but you could try contacting www.k9tracker.co.uk,she can give you lots of advice.
Pippilotta
My other dog keeps peeing when we are out looking for her. I thought that might help. But I can do my diluted pee too, just in case. Thanks. I live totally rural, I am sure there are plenty of holes, just I wouldn't know where they are.
Skywalker99
You should also lay a trail of your diluted pee homewards. Are there any holes she could have gone down?

Sorry to see that PIPPILOTTA IN DOGS TODAY is missing.
  • If your dog is microchipped please let the microchip company know that your dog is missing and check that all details are up to date.
  • Owners targeted by a malicious hoaxer demanding money for the return of their dog should phone the police on 101 immediately and contact admin@doglost.co.uk
  • A photograph of your dog is essential for the website. If you have not already uploaded one, please do so by clicking on Update details. Alternatively you can email it to admin@doglost.co.uk quoting the dog's DogLost ID number: (104475)
  • Obtain a missing poster by clicking on View poster above. Posters are very important so start postering now!
  • You will need to be logged in to upload photos, edit your dog's details, or add comments. You can add comments by clicking on Click here to add a comment.
  • Contact dog wardens, vets and local rescue centres, and in Scotland, the Police. Give a detailed description with any distinguishing marks/scars or send them a copy of your DogLost poster. You can find vets in your area here.
  • If your dog has been stolen inform the police immediately and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Send an email to stolen@doglost.co.uk.
  • If your dog is picked up and taken to rescue kennels, it can be legally re-homed after seven days. Visit rescue centres in person and do not rely on checking by phone alone. Other people may not recognise your dog by your description, so give them a DogLost poster.
