a long shot - but there's a dog called Rafter on the Many Tears Rescue website - described as 18 month cross from the poundLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

A copy of your poster is now in a plastic folder at my local vets surgery on a table for clients to peruse, (TA8 Somerset). People do travel and hopefully anything that we can do to bring you home has to be worh a try. We are having a good success rate in the South West at the moment, so please show yourself. You will be home soon, we don't give up. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

The Fosse Way Magazine is an excellent free weekly newspaper covering this area and and up into the Mendips. Editorial 01963 365117. Lots of dog adverts are in it.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

have we had media coverage on this one?\Is there a paper that would cover the area where Rory went missing as well as Langport? Happy to do an appeal if owner would like to call me on 07843 681980. sianxLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I have placed posters in Travis Perkins in Langport and in Paulls of Martock. I also spoke to the builders working on the development by the river. They took posters and said they would spread the word around other builders. Langport has been well covered with posters. If anyone has the time - sorry I can't this w/e - it might be worth doing the vets and other places in Martock. The builders said that they use Martock more often than Langport to get their materials etc.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I work at the NAWT Heaven's Gate Farm rescue centre near Langport, we are looking out for Rory but haven't been offered any dogs fitting his description. We have his poster up and I will send this on to St Giles Kennels who take the strays for this area. Keeping our fingers crossed for you.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Sorry, search line should read http://www.near.co.uk/builders-langport/771/Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
Mrs Mop
Here is a search for Langport builders. http://www.near.co.uk/builders-langport/771/ builders/painters and decorators, etc usually know where local firms are working and see each other (and their dogs!) often, especially in builders merchants, etc. Contact with some of them may lead to the gentlemen who may have picked up Rory and obviously tried to do the best thing for him.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just spoken to owner, This report came in this weekend from a lady who saw a poster in Somerton, but the incident happened about 2 weeks ago. I will try to find the builder, but 2 men in a white van is not a lot to go on.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Langford or Langport? 2 very different places a long way a part. Langport makes more sense. St Giles kennel at Wrantage is closest pound, but is the other side of Langport. Also, West Hatch RSPCA is not that far away. I will get some friends in Langport to poster. Sorry to hear about Duke and the BC - my breed. Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Happy Landings Shelter near Glastonbury 01749 860350 isn't far from langport. Have they been asked if he has come in?Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I'll put some posters up round Langport tomorrow. Heavens Gate, the nearest rescue, is closed as a foot and mouth precaution so the builders may have difficulty find somewhere to take him. I'll take a poster to the vets and send one to St. Giles which is the place the dog warden takes dogs that turn up in that area I believeLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Craigie, as I am sure Jayne will have explained, it can be very difficult to find someone to take in a found dog at a weekend. Many dog wardens don't work weekends, and dog rescue centres are sadly rather full at present. It is very likely that the builder will hand Rory in tomorrow, so check with all dog wardens and police stations both in your home area and in Langport then. If you look down the reunited list, weekends are often quiet but the handed-in dogs come trundling in on Mondays and Tuesdays.Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Just to clarify Duke has passed away, well the found dog matches dukes description, Rory wasn't found with Duke, we have had a positive sighting of him, He was last seen being taken, apprently by a Builder from LANGPORT who was going to him at a animal rescue centre but this hasn't happened , this is the only lead we have had, so PLEASE carry on the search for him! Many ThanksLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

Posters need to be displayed as soon as possible on notice boards, lamp posts, entrances to parks, dog bins and on cars. Take posters to vets, pet shops, postmen (for sorting offices), milkmen, dustmen, street cleaners, taxi drivers, schools, pubs, youth clubs, newsagents, post offices, takeaways, dog training clubs, supermarkets and car parks. Hand out reduced-down posters or cards to people - especially dog walkers - and deliver to houses and businesses. Police stations, Dog Wardens, the RSPCA and all rescue centres need checking frequently and preferably visited in person by owner or someone who knows Rory well. Stay safe Rory, and come home soon x Last edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18

I will be walking dogs later at St Giles Kennels, which is the main holding kennels for Somerset and most strays will be taken there by the police and dog wardens. I will keep a look out for Rory, and take posters with me. Come home soon Rory. JulieLast edited: 2010-05-11 02:17:18
