Janet, thinking of you and little Daisy. Do hope there is some news soon x

Please share-SIGHTINGS BADLY NEEDED-Daisy has been missing now for 19 days and there has been no news at all. Daisy's owner is heartbroken.
Further photos can be seen here-

WalkieswithAce, the owner had a terrier man search all the holes with his own dogs and nothing was found.
WalkieswithAce
Hi - sorry to hear Daisy is missing. It's not a very positive thought, but is it possible she's ended up down a badgers' set or fox hole and got stuck or injured? I fear this is the why so many of these smaller terriers seem to vanish without trace in woodland and farmland where these animals have their dens. I speak from experience - my own large terrier was trapped in a badger set for over an hour, managed to escape but had horrific injuries and nearly died from being mauled by a badger. If she'd been a smaller dog there is no question that she would have been killed. Fingers crossed that's not what has happened.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
I went out to see Janet this morning and we had a long chat. Mainly discussing Daisy's disappearance and giving advice about where else to poster and how else to let people know that Daisy is still missing.
We talked about whether something could have happened to Daisy but there has been nothing found on the farm to indicate this. As there have been no sightings at all then we think that she may well have been taken in by someone. However, nothing has been reported to the Dog Wardens (as is required by law)
So the search goes on.
If anyone knows someone who has taken in a Jack Russell recently or knows where Daisy is please call her owner or Doglost in total confidence.

Really sorry that there are no sightings. Have you shared here Janet?

To reach the people who don't have internet access, have you considered an advertisement in your local paper? Might help?

Thankyou Hope for sharing on your Facebook page and Twitter. I find it very strange that we have had no sightings whatsoever. It will be two weeks tomorrow.

I drove up to Brightling Road yesterday and did a scout on a dog walk sadly the forestry commission had taken down a poster i had put up in the Deer forest:( !! not nice .... i did text Jenny and tiga but she is really busy tracking lots of other dogs atm she is aware of Daisy ... if you need me to poster furhter a field i can do next week x
Baydogs
Janet is aware of the following and gave her permission. I spoke to her again this morning whilst she was out searching.

In an effort to reach that person who may have taken Daisy in but not have seen her details on the internet or yet spotted a poster, I contacted More Radio which covers Sussex. Spoke to a lovely man with a very pleasant soft Irish accent in the news room called Daniel, who suggested I emailed Daisy's details in to them. I have just done so. I do hope that they can help us.
Daniel also said that they would include Daisy on their FB page here-
https://www.facebook.com/moresussex/?fref=ts
And Janet will do that later when she returns from yet another marathon!

I'm sorry you have not heard from K9tracker but I do know that she is not available at the moment as she is having transport problems.

Have just had a call from Pauline at Radio Sussex and she has suggested that she puts Daisy's picture and request for information of her whereabouts on their Twitter feed to which I agreed. I have checked and it is on there with the picture. Thankyou Baydogs for your help.Last edited: 2016-07-01 15:44:49 by janet sang

Janet emailed K9tracker a few days ago Skywalker99 but there hasn't been a reply. I read somewhere that Jenny has car problems.
Skywalker99
have Jenny and Tiga been contacted ? www.k9tracker.co.uk
Baydogs
Have just spoken to a lovely lady at Radio Sussex who may be able to make a special exception in airing Daisy's missing status. Have informed Janet that she will be getting a call and may (hopefully-please Pauline:)) be on air to talk about Daisy. I have to say Janet sounds completely exhausted today but she is 75 years old (I know she won't mind me saying) and has literally walked marathons over the last ten days.
Baydogs
Janet-sorry, meant Sussex but wrote Suffolk. Will give them a call. Have you phoned as well?
janet sang
FYI Baydogs it is Radio Sussex and yes please do ring them x

Thanks Baydogs.
I'm so sorry that my meeting at your farm with Machaylla had to be cancelled. Unfortunately her children were unwell so she could not make it. Hopefully we can arrange another meeting soon.
Well done putting more posters up Janet. There can never be enough of them and really are the way to get sightings in and/or to let anyone who may have taken Daisy in know that you will not give up looking for her.
Fingers crossed that there is some news soon.
TK - Area Volunteer, East Sussex
Have just seen on fb that Daisy is missing, so so sorry to hear this and that there have been no sightings. Im in TN37, but I travel to TN33 daily and my daughter travels to Heathfield from Battle twice daily.. We shall keep our eyes peeled and will share on fb ...
you are doing all the right things to try and find Daisy, fingers crossed x
Are there any hay barns nearby that she may have got stuck in?
Baydogs
I really do feel for you Janet. To hear absolutely nothing is extremely hard. At least the odd sighting, however elusive, lifts the spirits.
I'm also sorry that you didn't have a reply from your email to BBC Suffolk regarding mentioning her over the radio. My own BBC area is extremely accommodating. Today I have suggested phoning, and with your permission I'll also phone them tomorrow if you'd like me to. Just say the word.
Could people here who listen to BBC radio Suffolk please listen out for an alert about Daisy and report here if there is one? It's possible that they simply put one out without answering the email and you were too busy searching and worrying to hear it.
janet sang
Just got back from putting posters up around the outskirts of Dallington so that hopefully someone may see them and realise that she is not a stray. This is so hard my heart is breaking. Thankyou to everyone for all the support.
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Good to know that Janet has so much support at this difficult time.
Sadly still no sightings of Daisy and no luck finding her on the farm.
There is the possibility that someone has found her and has not reported it. Some people are not aware they have to report finding a dog (by law) and are also not on social media so it's important to keep putting up posters please just in case this is what has happened.
I know that Janet and Machaylla are still searching all the places they can think of. It is always hard especially when no sightings have come in but they will not give up.

janet sang
I have emailed BBC Radio Sussex asking them to mention Daisy to their listeners and I have sent them a picture.
Baydogs
This link might be useful to you for getting her mentioned on the radio-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-12835872
Baydogs
Janet, I wonder if they'd put an alert here-
https://www.facebook.com/BBCSussex
If Flopsy the rabbit can get a mention I don't see why Daisy the dog can't.
Worth asking :)
Baydogs
Unfortunately that link is not Daisy. But I followed this with a call. Daisy's disappearance really is a puzzle; all holes on this massive farm have been checked by the terrier man, both badger and rabbit. Streams etc have been checked. Janet has walked extensively around the farm and cannot find any clues such as partly eaten rabbits (which Daisy might be eating). Neighbours know, the postman knows. There are no hidden wells or soakaways that she might have dropped into. No abandoned farm machinery where she could be hiding underneath. They have checked surrounding lanes and roads for her in case she has been hit by a car.
It is still possible that she might be amongst the hay which has not yet been cut, after perhaps having a heart attack. The farmer who will be cutting this is aware and will be looking out for her when he does so.

Have suggested contacting highways and informing them, just in case.
Also put an alert over local radio. This may reach someone who does not have internet access or goes out much but may have taken Daisy in as a kindly act.
Have also suggested widening the poster area now in case Daisy was in hot pursuit of badger/fox/deer young (of which there are many at the mo) and got herself completely lost.

No reply from Jenny as yet to Janet's email but understand that she may be having car problems....?
Baydogs
Thanks skyninchar for the longest link I have ever seen :)
Shame they haven't included a picture but certainly one worth checking out.
Skyninchar, that's within a very reasonable distance so I'm going to text Janet. Last edited: 2016-06-29 11:29:11 by Baydogs

Many thanks to everyone who is sharing and helping X

I was wondering about K9 tracker too ....they provide such a good service and may give an idea of whether Daisy is still on the farm or whether she has gone off site. I think Jenny (K9 Tracker) may have had a problem with her car so not sure if she'd be able to get over to Sussex?

Sorry, just realised the difference in areas! but worth checking anyway.

I was posting the same time as you Janet. Your last post -all good :)

Do you know much about the history of your farm? Do you have any old maps that might show old wells that have long since been disused and forgotten?
janet sang
Yes I have contacted K9tracker - still waiting for a reply and also the famed whose land is beyond here has a poster and neighbours have been alerted. I have also contacted the boarding kennels in the area in case someone has picked her up.Last edited: 2016-06-27 19:14:48 by janet sang

Did you take a look at the link to K9 tracker? What do you think? If you decide you want to go with this, then you should make contact with them as soon as you possibly can.

Otherwise, what about a dawn BBQ tomorrow morning with something lovely and smelly? If Daisy is out there in the woods, disorientated, her hunger might help her find you.

Do all the farmers in the area have a poster to refer to in case she has sheltered in a bar or shed? And all the isolated properties?Last edited: 2016-06-27 18:46:55 by Baydogs

I walked the fields again yesterday with my other two dogs calling but nothing. I am wondering if she has gone off the property and someone has picked her up - she is very friendly. I really am at my wits end.
Gina and Timi
I believe Daisy knows her area really well as she walks regularly there, is it possible she has chased a rabbit down a hole and got stuck. ? Dogs can survive down rabbit holes for days until they loose weight and can wriggle out. I wonder whether K9 tracker might be able to help you and i am sending you her link so you can contact her. https://www.facebook.com/K9Tracker-293150650842737/......... She has amazing results finding dogs and as yours has gone missing on ground its very familiar with i am sort of thinking rabbit hole. I hope she can help you. I hope its okay to post this link
Baydogs
Is it too late for Jenny and Tiga if they are available?
Clarkey - Area Co-ordinator, East Sussex
Daisy has been missing since last Monday so there have already been shares on Fbk and her owner Janet has been doing all she can to find her. She is being helped by good friends including a terrier man who has searched their land as they think she may be down a hole or lost in the woods. Janet also thinks that Daisy may have become exhausted and disorientated making it difficult for her to return to her house. The farm is a very large one with woods next to it. The owner now has permission to search the woods which was being done yesterday. Sadly no sign of Daisy at all yet.
I have sent out email advice and spoken to Janet who is obviusly very upset that she has not been found yet.

Unfortunately Janet has had a hoax telephone call from a foreign man saying he had Daisy and demanding money for her return. Janet wisely called the police and they went to her home and were there when the man called back. However, the call was from a with-held number. Thankfully Janet was wise enough not to give him any money but I am so sorry that she or any owner has had to go through this.

Thanks so much to everyone who is helping, especially Gina and Timi for doing a great job postering.
I'm hoping that a sighting comes in or that Daisy will be found soon.

Really glad you've listed Daisy on here Janet. We have some amazing volunteers in our area and they really will do what they can to help. Such a pity that there have been no sightings as it always gives us something to start with. Gina, thank you as always for putting some posters up....you're a star. Hoping Daisy turns up safely. X
BigGSDPatlucky
Have you tried taking the other two dogs out on leads see where they take you
Their noses are brilliant they might find her
It worked well a couple of times with dogs that are lost
Gina and Timi
I have put up some posters in surrounding roads to Rabbit farm, Brightling road, Deer Forest, and some entrances to walks that cross that area. I noticed a poster in the Post office had already been put up by the lovely guy who owns PO. Also one in car park of the Pub there at Woods Corner. Is there perhaps a favourite badger set they visit or likely rabbit holes, Daisy must know her area (the fields at the back of the house) really well...
Gina and Timi
Any news on this dog is she still missing?
