Message from Patsy:
Sunday was Polesden Lacey Dog Day (Polesden is our local NT property between Bookham and Dorking, with masses of good dog-walking country). The idea was to encourage local dog walkers to be responsible when walking in the countryside, with NT wardens, tenant farmer, NT staff on hand to answer questions and give advice. There was Kennel Club Bronze Award training and tests and have-a-go agility, plus tenant farmer's livestock, ferets, chickens in pens and owners were encouraged to get their dogs used to be amongst livestock (there has been quite a problem of dogs attacking and chasing sheep on the estate recently). Paula and I were there all day and Jo came along in the afternoon. We had notice board displaying our three local missing dogs (Hugo, Winston and Edmond). Made lots of useful contacts, gave out posters to many local dog walkers (many had heard of Hugo), also to gundog people with lovely rescue Weimeranas, farmers, wardens, sheepdog lady, agility people etc. Made really useful contact in Nigel Edwards, Vice Chairman & Head of Inspectorate of National Association of Security Dog Users, who showed real interest in the work we do at DogLost and will distribute posters and information among his contacts. He has useful police contacts. A really nice, non-commercial, fun and informative day and hopefully we have flagged up awareness for our local missing dogs and maybe recruited a few more local helpers. Also met Dylan the Bedlington terrier, who went missing last year from Fetcham and turned up at Ranmore two weeks later! (see reunited pages). And my dog Skipper had a fun day too . . . . . Message from Patsy: Still busy looking for Edmond when I can and I know DL helper Jo has been busy with the local vets - I was pleased to see yesterday that when I dropped into Strood Green vets, near Brockham, they already had a poster displayed. Put another outside on lamp post and gave them a Hugo one too. Postered around Strood Green and Brockham Green area, gave posters to friends in the area and at Charlwood. Another friend (also on DL) has relatives living up on Box Hill who are aware and looking out for him. This Sunday it is Polesden Lacey Dog Day. NT are allowing us to poster event and flag up awareness for local missing dogs, especially Edmond as missing on NT land. Other DL helpers do come along - I'll email you more info this evening. Will also call you, Jackie (E's breeder). Px | 22/04/2009 | PaulaK |

Message from Patsy: Sadly no news of any more sightings. I did evening walks in area of last sighting over weekend and gave flyers to walkers I met, but will get out re-postering this week as will have more time. Am really hoping someone has taken this boy in and will come forward. Have registered Edmond as missing with Network Rail, who will check the line between Dorking and Reigate and am in regular contact with local DW. Px | 14/04/2009 | PaulaK |

Hi copied of E's poster and will v gladly take posters to local Vets here in Horsley and will contact by phone and e mail other local Vets to Reigate etc - however, it would really help if the new owner could list the Vets etc that they have already notified about E! Please E if you are around join the Easter Bunnies and hop back to Boxhill Tea Rooms - we would all love to see you safe and well and re-united with those that care for you! | 10/04/2009 | UK |

Message from Patsy: I rang Edmond's owners today and spoke to Annie (mother). They have not received any news of sightings since the Sunday before last and are very despondent and close to giving up the search. I explained that it was still early days, that Edmond may have been taken in by someone and so we need to keep on searching and postering. By the end of the conversation, we greed that it would be good if local helpers carried on with the search and she thanked us all very much for our help. So, let's keep on postering . . . . I know that Jackie, Edmond's breeder, has not given up either. So, any DL helpers looking in from other parts of the country, please print off a poster and give to local vets, rescues, pet shops etc. You never know, he may be sitting on someone's sofa the other end of the country by now . . . . I walked for some time around the Boxhill area today, gave out fliers to ramblers/dog walkers etc. I very much hope that somebody kind has taken this little chap in, fallen in love with him and is looking after him.....even if it is the wrong thing to do ! It would be nice to know that he is safe. I can report (to my horror) that baby rabbits are extremely easy to catch ! One of my dogs (a quite small mini schnauzer) took off after one happily hopping about on the lush green slopes of Boxhill. It'll outrun her I thought, but the soppy thing didn't. run. Don't know if it was frozen with fear, I certainly was ! I hurtled down the slope shrieking like a lunatic, poor bunny just lay there I grabbed the dog and scurried off, couldn't bear to look closely, but when I was a distance a way I bravely looked back and it was sitting up looking rather puzzled, but not dead as I'd feared. Poor Abbey hasn't got many teeth, so I was pretty sure she hadn't bitten it but I did think it might have died of fright, I almost did. So the point of all this rambling is I think Edmond, who no doubt has a nice full set of teeth, would be able to feed himself, if necessary, but I hope it isn't. | 08/04/2009 | Jan S |

Message from Patsy: Walked at dusk at Box Hill Tuesday evening, but no sign of Edmond. Earlier in the day, gave posters to Crow's Auctioneers in Dorking (behind Dorking Halls) to display at sale preview and sale this week. Also dropped poster off at Margaret Rose petshop in Fetcham. Received nice long email from Claire, DL helper in Suffolk and friend of E's breeder. Claire suggests that Edmond could have been picked up by someone understanding by now, that he is a quiet well-behaved little dog (even has his Kennel Club Good Citizen Silver award). So this suggests we should really target as many vets, pet shops, dog training classes etc as possible - even out of our area. Many people from all over the place visit Box Hill, so he may have been taken out of the area. So many events are on this Easter weekend, so do take posters to display at these. Hi Just got back from Dorking and Boxhill.I dropped into the Spring Fair at Boxhill Village Hall. The Friends of St Andrew’s Church had received the flyers I sent and have distributed them as widely as possible - they also have also very kindly put up a few more posters up at Boxhill including another one at Upper Farm. I will also send E’s poster to two more friends at Boxhill who are happy to do what they can. I picked up about ½ the quantity of posters and flyers from the National Trust Shop - thanks Paula and Patsy! Dropped off E’s poster at Muddy Paws just in case they hadn’t got my e mail and Atlee’s in Dorking. Hope to get up to Boxhill sometime tomorrow maybe afternoon - but can make morning if needed. | 04/04/2009 | UK |

I hope to get up to Boxhill in the morning before going down to Dorking to do the Lifeboat collection and hope to drop into the Village Hall for the Spring Fair - if I do I hope to pick up some flyers and posters from the NT Shop.(I hope time will be on my side!) Many Thanks Paula. | 03/04/2009 | UK |

Message from Patsy, Thursday evening: Thank you for nice messages Claire W! Good you have become DL helper - hope not too many missing dogs in IP area. I see we have been spelling Edmund's name wrong. Sadly no reports of sightings these last few days. Regarding posters: I went up to NT shop on Box Hill this evening and spoke to Peter, joint manager with Rob. Just a misunderstanding - Rob hadn't left a message re posters and they couldn't find them under the counter. All sorted now - I have left some up there if any DL helpers need to collect. Sorry you had a wasted journey, Jan. On the way down the hill, I put fresh posters on notice board outside Boxhill village shop and by bus stop opposite. Then postered Pixham Lane area. Met v. nice people who live in cottages at Riverside, little lane by the Mole off Leslie Road at Pixham, who will keep a special lookout. Postered Friends Provident Playing fields at foot of Box Hill at Pixham. Also gave out flyers to dog walkers at NT Polesden Lacey today. Sadly, no news of any possible sightings . . . . Thank you all for looking for Edmund, especially Patsy who I met when I came to help look for him on Tuesday. What a wonderful organisation dog lost is. I can only hope that we find Edmund, he is such a lovely dog and his breeder Jackie is a close friend of mine, in fact I have one of her dogs myself, Clemmie, who was with us on the search for Edmund. Good luck and again many thanks. | 02/04/2009 | Claire W |

Upper Farm Park Estates - I believe are virtually opposite the NT Tea Rooms are thankfully are VERY happy to help - I rang and left a message and they rang back so I am going to send a poster in the post! Also sending poster to a friend who lives on Headley Heath (not with the cattle!), Crossway Kennels (at last! - sorry it is only now I have got to do that) and Brelades Dorking. I am in Dorking on Saturday doing a Lifeboat collection and could collect more flyers and posters - if needed - please remind me where? Thanks v much Paula for doing them - I am running out! If needed - is anything happening on Sunday? | 02/04/2009 | UK |

Got to Boxhill quite early this morning, unfortunately shop not open to get posters. Walked for ages met a school party asked them all to look out but didn't have posters to give them (poo) Only saw two on fence posts deep in woods on walk. Went into shop, man there said he knew nothing of posters, I mentioned Rob Patsy. He wasn't there today. Man in shop called up to lady who shouted back, tell her we are not taking any posters, we don't want any more posters put up. Explained as well as I could, to this 'distant voice' that I wanted to take posters not put them up. Lady stomps downstairs face like thunder and tells me if I want a poster I can get the one from the tea place as they have been told to take it down, I can have that if they haven't already thrown it away. We are not to put up any more posters. I said I was only going to hand them out to other dog walkers and wouldn't dream of putting them on trees. Had to leave before I said something I would later regret. No sign of any posters at all around Nt shop or tea place. Passed Headley Heath on my way home and they are creosoting the notice boards so all posters taken down there as well, don't know if they will put them back when the boards are dry, but doubt it. Feeling cross ! Car in garage so can't go anywhere anyway, so even crosser..... | 02/04/2009 | Jan S |
