Delete So very pleased this lovely boy is back home where he belongs.   Stay safe now, gorgeous fella xx10/09/2008Bess 'n' Barney's Mum
Delete Hi,
Could you please post this on the comments immediately please, the kennels
are being inundated with calls and the press has jumped on the band wagon!

It has just been confirmed that the dog found in the river alive is a Collie cross.
He was picked up to be taken to the Lincoln dog pound from Halfway Home, but
never arrived there because the owner claimed it but had to wait until Monday to
pick him up.  He had been walking his dog when it ran off.  Don't know how far
from where he was found
The dog is now back with his owner.  He had been taken to a holding kennel
in Newark because it was the weekend, and if not claimed would have gone
to the Lincoln pound on Monday..
Good ending. Owner was told about compulsory collar with tag.

Lincoln pound has been inundated with phone calls even late into the night.
Somehow the press got hold of it,

Delete From all the internet forum cross posting that has been done from my original posting I have received an email from someone who lives in Newark saying that they know someone who lives on a canal boat with a dog like this .. which would fit in with him being found in the river???   I have asked them to try to contact them urgently to see if its is their dog that is missing .. would hate him to be rehomed if it was their dog.  I have copied Jan's last message on here to them, and have also put the mobile number from the listing.  I hope she can contact them quick enough to save him IF it is their dog (seems to fit doesn't it).09/09/2008Shirley4Valgrays
Delete I have alerted Rachel one of our Northern co ordinators to this boy as she is very much involved with border collies  and may recognise him. 09/09/2008Jumanji - Regional Co-ordinator
Delete Have updated the page, tel number was wrong, too many 0.  Spoken to Half Way Home who are the out of hours contact and picked him up.  This boy has now been taken to Lincolnshire Council Rescue Kennels, who will rehome him if his owners do not claim him.  She described him as not a full Border Collie but as a Border/Springer Cross. Jan x 09/09/2008Majorjet - Area Co-ordinator Merseyside NW
Delete Thanks gals for looking out for this boy, Shirley thanks for email if we find out any more info of where he is will let you know.  Jan x09/09/2008Majorjet - Area Co-ordinator Merseyside NW

Horrid to think he was found in a River!   I have emailed several forums and asked for it to be cross posted to even more.  Have also added him to the Valgrays website incase anyone recognises him.  www.valgraysbcrescue.webs.com

I have Border Collies and live in Newark - he is not a dog I recognise. [I do know a Red and White in Newark but its not him!]

Will ask at Dog Training Clubs and other contacts.

Delete Blaze missing from Portlock is more gold than red in colour. This beautiful boy must belong to someone.08/09/2008Spindle - Area Co-ord. N. Dorset
Delete What a lovely boy, have sent his pic and details to Shirley at Valgrays (BC Rescue).  Jan x08/09/2008Majorjet - Area Co-ordinator Merseyside NW
Delete He has the same markings as Blaze, 7270 missing from Porlock since September 2006.   Colour is not really right, Blaze is described as ginger and white, but could be worth a look.   I see it says this dog is not microchipped and Blaze is, but it's possible it could be missed.......
